My favorite resturant in the world so far .. the sucking pig is everything and the sauce of out of this world . First let me say the succulent pig was super juicy where it needed to be and super crispy where it needed it's a piece of art and the sauce at the bottom just brings it all together . Then the Rosett was also amazing the spare rib was cooked perfectly before being stuffed in pasta then cooked in the brick oven just finnished it off perfectly . Big shout out to Chef Marc Forgione and his staff .

The food was good, but the portions are subpar. Like so small.....we asked the waiter about what's shareable and felt bamboozled when we got the octopus. I understand this place has been open for a number of years but wow....paid a lot for almost nothing. I was basically still hungry after my pasta. The ambiance was nice, super cute for a date but if you're hungry you're better off going to a smaller scale spot in little italy.

The wine bar is one of my favorite places to eat in the world! We had a lovely girls dinner! As always, the suckling pig was amazing! We also ordered the branzino, short rib pasta, and steak. The short rib pasta blew our minds! The branzino was tasty, and the steak was cooked well with a nice sear and seasoned perfectly. We ended the night with some espresso martini, but we really missed the panna cotta! Please bring it back!!!!!

Great food and cocktails, the downstairs wine bar is such a great little space for intimate conversation and time over an extremely well curated selection.

The service was great. Though the candles really set up a nice ambience, candles + the open brick oven made the temperature too hot for me. The tables were too close. Overall decent pasta and the suckling pig was ok

One of my favorite spots for neighborhood pasta, but was fairly disappointed tonight. Rotated by 3 different servers, $58 steak completely charred on the outside… and the clam pasta had only 3 clams. The atmosphere is all time and the pasta is usually awesome, but tonight, disappointment.

This wasn’t a meal but rather it was an experience. My wife and I had several plates ranging from vegetables, meat, pastas, amazing house made bread and desserts. The atmosphere made for a fun date night and the elevated but hardy food was delicious. Our server, Irakli, is responsible for crafting such a memorable night guiding us through his favorite dishes, being there to anticipate our needs and never once making us feel rushed as we enjoyed each dish. Thank you, Irakli and Peasant for an amazing night. I would highly recommend.

This is the pinnacle of all Italian food. I have never been so satisfied with a restaurant. First I had the Wood Roasted Oysters and this is not your average seafood dish. The flavors are complex on an unimaginable scale for everything, but this one in particular was so diverse and amazing. It was sweet at first but switched to savory quick while still maintaining a balanced flavor between spices. The lamb ribs were a very simple yet delicious flavor but a lot of the ribs were just fat so it certainly was not the star of the show. The spicy Octopus was one of the best foods I have ever eaten it was so spicy and delicate but still maintaining a firm tentacle to bite into. I have a loss of words for the Agnolotti. I'm speechless over this. It very well might have been the greatest dish I have ever eaten in my life. The smoked Linguine was very buttery and garlicy there was a lot of lemon on it yet still it didn't overpower the dish it was on the line of too much and yet it was still Delicious. I've read a lot of bad things about the Suckling Pig. That it was dry and hard to chew, both of these were wrong it was a great dish but it was just pork. There were no seasonings so it was a little bland, but they made up for it with the crispy delicious skin. Sometimes you would get a charred piece and when it's charred, it's charred, they do not cook it lightly. Dessert wise they did pretty good but nowhere near as good as the main meal. The apple crisp was like a mini apple pie with salted caramel ice cream on it, the apples are cooked to perfection and it's just the right amount of food after a great meal. Affogato was vanilla gelato with a very light espresso. They compliment each other so well yet it is still so simple. Everybody there was so nice. Some of the nicest staff you can find in New York. It has such an old and original feel to it. The vibe says it's a little tiny restaurant on the corner but the food says it's a high end restaurant. Overall it was an unforgettable experience and I am definitely going back in the future.

The gothic ambience of Peasant does present an interesting contradiction to the whole dining experience, especially when juxtaposed with the attitude of our server. Looking back in history, the peasants in ancient Greece often dipped their bread into wine (and naturally so given how bread was bade from barley wheat and hence was often stale and tough). Perhaps, in an attempt to present that peasant experience vicariously, our server was rather enthusiastic in serving us copious amount of wine in a passive-aggressive fashion. The aforementioned contradiction was further augmented with his inability to take appetizers and entrée orders separately, especially since the ancient Greek peasants rarely had the choice of having both for dinner. The saving grace was the food – which was great in all aspects but perhaps the restaurant should consider renaming itself to an Aristocrat Noble to avoid doing a disservice to the quality of food served.

Fantastic wine selection combine with great choices of pastas. The octopus is also to die for. The ambiance combines rustic and cozy to make your dining experience perfect for friends, anniversaries, or dates.

The service is amazing here. The food was very late to come out because the Branzino we ordered had burned and they had to start over. They took one of the pasta dishes off the bill for the delay.I didn't love the atmosphere. The tables were very close together, and with so many people chatting at the same time, it was difficult to carry a conversation without raising my voice. The decor was nice, but could use some sound-absorbing materials. The food was excellent. The rosette was especially unique and delicious, with its char from the wood-fired oven.I'd certainly return to try their other dishes, although maybe I'll ask to sit near the windows away from the main area to avoid all the noise.

Where do I begin...... entering Peasant restaurant you walk in to an inviting relaxed atmosphere and within a moment, even before you are welcome by Cara, you smell the wonderful flavors of dishes being prepared!Your party is welcomed in by Cara, a fabulous host, and then seated in a relaxed, dimly lit room surrounded with candles that make for a romantic atmosphere. Our party experienced the attention to detail from the waiter and table attendant refilling wine, sparkling or flat water glass just at the right moment! From start to finish from our appetizers which we shared, dinners and dessert were mouth watering, tasteful, and tingling with taste bud popping flavors! The menu offers many staple, to include pasta, fish, chicken, and meat! In addition, nightly specials and with advance request roasted pig!The Wine Steward gave recommendation and suggestions that were perfectly matched with the selection of dishes being prepared!Whether a romantic evening, special occasion, or just to enjoy a breath of wonderful food with exceptional service, in a relaxed atmosphere, I highly suggest you make your reservations ahead of time!An absolute GEM!

Everything about Peasant was absolutely perfect. From the hostess who chatted it up with myself and my friends to our server who was very knowledgeable about the menu. Our food was served surprisingly quick. We ordered the Wood Roasted Oysters with Calamari, which was amazing! Then we had the M&M's Meatballs with Rib Eye Steak, incredible! With brussels sprouts, Polenta, and white beans. I'm a bourbon kinda guy so I went with the Sicilian Spice Rack. We also did dessert. Perfect, just perfect! I can't wait to come back here again and enjoy another wonderful evening.
