Peculiar Pub is a beloved neighborhood spot with a fantastic selection of beers, both on tap and in cans or bottles. The staff are personable and efficient, providing a range of beverages and snacks. With ample seating for different group sizes, it’s a great place to enjoy a drink or snack. The pub is wheelchair accessible, but it does have single-occupancy bathrooms and steps leading to the bar and bathrooms. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with friendly bartenders and a solid beer selection, including hard-to-find imports. The walls are adorned with quirky bottle cap murals, adding to the charm, and there is a water station for guests to stay hydrated. It is an ideal spot for happy hour, featuring $5 pints of beer and both indoor and outdoor seating.
Peculiar Pub has a rich history, having first opened in 1982, and has evolved into a cherished establishment in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. It remains a cozy sanctuary filled with amber lights and a range of brews. The pub gained a cult following by offering over 300 beers from around the globe, including unique imports like Tusker from Kenya and Beer Lao from Laos. Generations of NYU students have embraced it as a second living room, a place to engage in deep conversations over a $6 Belgian strong ale or simply to unwind.
The ambiance features vintage beer signs and a delightful late-1970s energy, creating a slightly gritty yet authentic vibe. The food menu includes standard pub fare at extremely reasonable prices, with burgers that are well worth the $10. For those looking to step back in time and experience the Village's unique character, Peculiar Pub is the perfect destination to celebrate good days or wash away bad ones.
