NOT the same as the upper east side. We have been regular at the uptown location for years. The menu downtown is the same but the recipes and even the ingredients in some of the dishes are different. I always order the same thing at Philippe and so does my family so we know the dishes well. The Green Prawns had carrots and other vegetables that are not normally included and the overall taste was similar but not as good. The Bejing chicken had a different texture (it wasn't crispy) and slightly different taste. The tofu dish had added ingredients and also tasted off. One of my guests over heard a waiter telling people at another table that the original owners sold the downtown location. It totally makes sense based on how different the food tasted. If you just want to eat Chinese downtown it might be worth it to go. However if you are craving top Chinese food like Mr Chow or Philippe uptown than stick to Mr Chow or wait until the new Philippe Chow upper east side location opens.
Love it here they treat me so good every time I come especially Roberto he is my favorite 🥰
I've been to Philippe Chow Downtown many times (probably over 10 visits), but last night's dinner was definitely one of the best experiences I've had there. Our waiter Chris was amazing super attentive, friendly, and thoughtful. I mentioned in passing that my boyfriend's birthday was a couple of days ago, and Chris went out of his way to make our dessert special and even gave us free shots to celebrate. He also brought out warm towels after we ate, which was such a nice touch I hadn't experienced there before. The food and vibe were perfect as always, but Chris really made the night stand out. 10/10 experience can't wait to go back
Great experience high recommend it . They service and atmosphere was great. The food was amazing , it was my wife birthday so we had a blast
Food was very good but expensive. Peking duck was good but expected it to be presented whole and carved table side it was not and the snapper was definitely previously frozen. Very pretty not crazy about rap music played loudly. Son's birthday (he chose the restaurant) it was good but I have had better. Sorry. Just being honest ordered hot and sour (they were out at 7:30) but wonton was delicious
This experience was just ok. I think we expected a little more, the dumplings were amazing, everything else was just ok. Lobster fried rice, just ok. All food, except dumplings, was luke warm. Service was fine, people were very nice. Expensive meal that was fine, but not amazing.
Only went to this location due to the Uptown location being closed. It's like night and day - hopefully the Uptown location opens back up soon.
This restaurant is one of my favorite. I have been there more than 15 times! Always great! However last night I didnt leave tooo happy. My husband ordered rice, which it was taking extremely long. When we asked our waiter, instead of just making it easy by getting the rice . He right away blamed it on us. He said “ I repeated your order”! Completely unnecessary. Even if we missed it, the place is loud, it's ok to make mistakes. Let's not look for excuses! Also, this man never came back to us to check on us. FIRST time that ever happened.!!I get that it was busy, but I was looking around and noticed every other waiter going back to their tables checking on their guest. Still will definitely go back, hoping the experience is as pleasant as every other time. Thank you
Cotton Candy Baked Alaska is a must! Best deserve Ive had. Our bus boy was incredible and out waiter was unattenive. When servers automatically get 20% its like they dont care. However the food was incredible.
The food was delicious and the temperature was great. The waiter staff were excellent. Everything was great.

The lettuce wraps are the best, the chicken and shrimp satay was to die for, overall my experience was great and our food was amazing, a little pricey for four people but the food and drinks were good .
Food is overpriced $24 Cocktails??? 20% Tip included on all bills Noise level after 8pm was deafening mostly caused by increasing music volume so everyone had to almost scream to be heard at tables
This restaurant has amazing service! Staff values ensuring the best out of your experience. Roberto was very kind and provided excellent service!
We had a great time celebrating our anniversary here. The staff at Philippe Chow made it even more special with the champagne and sparkler in our dessert. The dj was bumpin and the lights were turned down which added to the vibe. Food was excellent, we did the restaurant week prefixe and it was so worth it. We had so much fun. Love it here!
Was given a great seat for my solo dinner last night and the service was great across the board. Glad I picked here to celebrate my birthday last night.
