New name (FKA Phobar) but same kitchen staff and chef. Pho aside, the banh mi is actually quite good!

This restaurant was called PhoBar pre-COVID. After re-opening from COVID, it is now called Project Pho. The food is just as a good as it was before. I usually get the Spicy Beef Pho or the Siagon Pho if I don't want something spicy. This place always hits the spot when I crave for pho. Being from SoCal, I know what good pho is. This is one of few vietnamese restaurant that gets pho right!

I believe this restaurant is called Project Pho now. The Pho is soooo good! One of the owners is still running it but had to change the name. Don't let that fool you. We had the veggie pho and it was honestly the best veggie pho I've had. The broth was extremely flavorful. Also the lime-aid is like what I had in Vietnam - not carbonated and not too sugary. Perfect!

Friends and I went. Service and food were good. Had excellent space for social distancing. Would recommend.

A little different, more contemporary departure from the usual/traditional pho places nearby. The traditional Vietnamese spots a couple streets over on Baxter/Mulberry streets are also quite good, but were pretty packed during lunch time, especially with their proximity to the courts, so I decided to give this place a try! Menu has more distinctly different options instead of like 14 options of the same pho with slightly different meat options, along with vegetarian pho which is kind of unique. No wait, but cash only and no outdoor dining, just limited indoor seating and takeout, but there is a nice park (Columbus Park) nearby with tables/seating to enjoy your well packed meal :) Got the Saigon Pho which includes beef brisket, flank, and beef ball with noodles, sprouts, sauce, etc. in broth. Basil was kind of hilariously brown/wilted, but otherwise all was delicious! Note: contrary to Google listing this place as closed, it's definitely open as of the writing of this review, although I'm not sure what their hours are.

Phobar is one of the newest Vietnamese restaurants that opened up in Chinatown. I've been here many times last year and always brought some of my friends here too. Love the vibe, atmosphere, service, and food here! The first time I came here, I tried the 'Build Your Own Pho Bowl". I've gotten it with the Beef "Rich Broth", raw beef slices and it comes with the garnishes and noodles too. I liked the set-up and definitely worth trying at least 1-2x for the experience. I usually order their Saigon Pho (fresh thinly sliced beef with beef balls & slow braised brisket) or Classic beef (fresh thinly sliced beef). I've also tried their Vietnamese Ice Coffee which is absolutely amazing too. This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Chinatown. Pho is simply one of the best pho I've had so far. Definitely coming back here when things are better!

One of my favorite spots for tasty Vietnamese food. Went there on a Saturday. Service is typically great. It has an awesome atmosphere.

I heard a lot about how this place makes flavorful broths, so I got the classic beef pho! It honestly wasn't very mind-blowing, and didn't taste as authentic as I hoped. The beef broth was definitely flavorful, but it didn't taste savory enough for it to spark this feeling of joy whenever I drink an amazing soup. The beef was a little on the drier side, but their noodles were on point. I would say with the bright and trendy-like ambience, it definitely made the eating experience feel a bit more classy and nice, particularly nice for younger people. Would I come back for the pho? Probably not, I have had better. Is this place decent? Yes it is.

I was visiting from San Francisco Bay Area, where pho is more common. Most pho places in San Jose, where I live, are really good, really cheap holes-in- the-wall, with a really "organic" vibe.So this place, located in NY Chinatown, had a hipster vibe to it, which I normally don't see. The clientele was really NY-ish, really cool, and interesting, with all the 20-30-something young urban professionals.I say all this in a good way and with no complaints - just describing my personal experience.Service was quick. I ordered the Spicy Short Rib Pho, at $15.95, which I thought was pricey, though on the other hand, I didn't have any expectation otherwise while visiting NY. Also, it's just something that I have never seen before in a pho place, and also I LOVE short ribs ESP when they are bone-in. The food was good, and really exemplified a great NY experience.

Hub celebrated his bday during the summer a year ago. He was eyeing the menu for awhile especially Bun Bo Hue. It's a more traditional and popular Vietnamese soup. The broth is spicy, salty, and a strong depth of lemongrass flavor. I opt for the grilled pork chops vermicelli. The dish comes with freshly chopped ingredients- cucumbers, lettuce, carrots, daikon, mustard green, Vietnamese chili sauce, scallions, and fried shallots. It's normally a cold dish with the exception of the grilled pork chops. We also had the sauteed Brussels sprouts and summer rolls. And I had their Vietnamese iced coffee as well. Pho stands out with their use of sourcing, quality ingredients, and culinary techniques that distinguishes themselves in comparison to other Vietnamese restaurants in the neighborhood. Pho's broth also offers the standard 8 hour broth or upgrade to 16 hours and 25 hours options. The price makes up for not only the labor intensive process but their use of quality Angus prime bones from Weichsel Beef/RFM. The service was also top notch! All the staff were attentive. We were seated right away, in addition to having drinks and water refilled. And, the waitstaff comes around every now and then to check up on our table. The food came out in a short time. The restaurant interior and decor feels as if you're hanging out at a contemporary hotel lounge/bar. It's also Cash-only. Def will miss this spot! We never got a chance to return to try other items.

Absolutely loved this place. Not only is the ambiance super nice and great for a fun night out or a delicious lunch - but their food is simply amazing. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic pho, a soft shell crab pho, or maybe something entirely different (like their insanely amazing surf n turf) you will find your pick.Did I mention they have a Crazy Rich Broth that will make your tastebuds explode with happiness? If you do find yourself near one of their two locations do not hesitate to head inside, order a nice refreshing drink or cocktail, and make sure to not skip their appetizers either. I definitely recommend their spring rolls and their summer rolls, as well as their Brussel sprouts that will even make a hater a fan.I will definitely go back for more ?
