My wife and I were heading back to our car when Ponche Taqueria caught our attention. We looked at each other and decided, "Why not?" It was a great spur-of-the-moment decision. This place is a hidden treasure. We were seated right away, and the atmosphere was perfect. The waitress was lovely, and the food? Let's just say it made us realize how much we'd been missing out on real burritos. The difference between Ponche Taqueria and places like Chipotle is night and day. If you're nearby, do yourself a favor and stop in.

Food was only average and they are not cheap here. They charge about $4.00 or more for everything typically included in Mexican restaurants/dishes like sour cream or jalapeños. Ingredients like these are simply left out of the dish so you must order them separately. So if you want enchilada suizas $22, you must pay $3.50 extra for sour cream.
"Salsa" tasted like Italian sauce. It was weird.
Small cute place but not worth the money imho.

I had The taco plates, it has 3 choices and comes with rice and beans or Salad, the tempura taco was excellent and so delicious, the grilled shrimp taco is ok and the veggie tacos were very good. The dish comes with a side I picked rice and beans but they were average, not flavourful. Service was great but the resturant is a bit outdated and small

A nice place to try if you’re in the area. The service was pretty bad at first, but the chef who came out with the dishes was so friendly he melted our hearts! The dish we got was good and filling for two people.
A place that J3 recommends both for the meal and for the service. It's difficult to find where to eat well at a reasonable price in New York and this is really great!

The food is straightforward and excellent, and drinks are inexpensive. Expect a $30 well spent

The best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to in NYC.
