Absolutely exceptional experience.
We hosted a private gathering of around twelve people, and everything was truly perfect from start to finish, including being in touch with them for booking and finalizing everything, shoutout to Natalie.
The service was attentive and warm, a special shoutout to Gracie, the food and drinks were outstanding, and the atmosphere was exactly what we hoped for.
If you are considering this venue for a private event or even just a night out, I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Enjoyed our time here. Had some drinks and food. Food is surprisingly good. The pretzel was lovely. The fries were delicious and addicting. Sliders were also solid. Bartenders were quick and attentive. I saw the speakeasy in the back but didnt go in. Good spot overall.

A bar with bands playing live. Space is a little cramped but crowd was enthusiastic. Apparently they have good food, but you need a reservation to get a table.

The prohibition ruined the 20s, this place is trying its hardest at ruining every night. The manager of this restaurant seemed to directly go out of his way to interfere with us. One of the poorest interactions I’ve had at a restaurant. He moved us five separate times. I understand one or two times as you get ready for the band to play. But five times? Are you for real? To be clear—I normally have extremely low standards. I have been to a million dive bars. I understand that the management of a dive bar is generally misanthropic. I understand that patrons, in general, suck. This treatment, however, was beyond the pale.

I recently hosted a party here for about 20 people and was SO happy with everything: the food, the drinks, the room, and the service. They were wonderful. I especially wanted to call out how good the food was, far exceeded my expectations especially for a bar. Everyone commented on that. And the drinks were outstanding too! Also the Speakeasy room is gorgeous - I dont think the pictures do it justice. We also used the Jo/Josephine's corner area which was really awesome too with more of the live music vibe. My guests had an amazing time and it was just perfect for the intimate but fun gathering I wanted.

My wife and I went to Prohibition (85th & Columbus) a few nights ago with a few friends. In all the years I’ve lived on the UWS (since 2000), I’ve never been there. Idk why…but it just never happened.
The whole evening was top notch.
The food was really very good. But, that’s not why I’m posting this.
First: the people working there seemed totally happy to be there. The host, the bartenders and our waiter Parker were all fun to be with — and actually added to the fun of the night. Smiles, conversation and helpfulness throughout. Employees can make a big difference.
The music was so solid (two different sets, each by a different act — the second one a 5-piece band). There just aren’t that many places in our neighborhood to hear great music. At least that I know of.
I’ve been living on the UWS for 25 years — we raised our son here. As we were walking out, passing about 20-30 people outside waiting in the cold to get in, I said to my wife: “I can’t believe this is a 10 minute walk from our front door. It feels like we could be in the West Village.”
Anyway…I’ll definitely be back. I’m so happy there are places like this we can go to in our own neighborhood.

Huge thank you to Michael, David, and Gracie for making our engagement party at Prohibition such an amazing celebration. The night was absolutely perfect, and the entire staff went above and beyond to make everything seamless. We had the best time and can’t wait to come back!
Great live music with professional and friendly servers.

Came here on a rainy November night to get a bite and enjoy some live music. Loved the warm, cozy ambiance and the earlier musician was great - Elliot Greer! Service was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The lamb chops were excellent. Unfortunately they were out of mashed potatoes so we ordered the fries, which weren’t as hot as I like but the flavor was good. Had the burrata to start, which was excellent but I didn’t love the cold squash puree that came with it, I don’t really ever want to eat squash puree cold and I think there are better pairings or ways of cooking the squash that would have been better but the burrata part was lovely. They also had a mocktail selection which was nice, had the nonalcoholic Negroni, which was a treat. Overall a 5 star experience because the lamb chops, service, music, and ambiance were excellent.

I hosted a social event (for the org I work for) for 80 to 100 people to have drinks and pass plates in the Speakeasy Bar (private room in the back) on a weeknight this fall and last fall as well. Both times our group was treated to a lovely night of great service from everyone who helped us keep the night going smoothly, plus the cocktails and hors d'oeuvres were delicious! Highly recommend this venue for a big private group to have classy and festive evening. Don't skip the sliders or chocolate chip cookies...

Our wedding reception at Prohibition on 11/08/25 was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we began planning to the very last song of the night, the entire experience exceeded every expectation we had. The service, food, atmosphere, and live band were all phenomenal—truly a night we and are guests haven’t been able to stop talking about.
What made the experience truly unforgettable, though, were the people. Michael, Kayly, Natalie, and the ENTIRE Prohibition staff were exceptional in every sense of the word. Their professionalism and genuine care elevated our celebration far beyond anything we imagined. EVERY staff member was incredibly attentive—sweet to us, kind to our guests, and always one step ahead in making sure everyone felt welcomed and cared for. So many of our friends and family commented on how wonderful the staff was, and we couldn’t agree more.
Michael, Kayly, and Natalie were an absolute dream team. They played a huge role in the planning process—from helping us choose the perfect menu and desserts to offering thoughtful suggestions on timing and even helping with song choices. Their level of involvement and support made the entire experience not just smooth, but truly enjoyable. It felt like having a team of experts who cared as much about our day as we did. I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done without them.
If you’re looking for a venue that not only delivers top-tier food and entertainment, but is also staffed by the most AMAZING people who truly love what they do, Prohibition is the place. They helped give us the wedding celebration of our dreams, and we could not be more grateful. There are honestly no words to explain how outstanding this place and this staff is. We look forward to coming back and seeing all of them every year!
