Spiga Trattoria is a small, authentic Italian spot on the Upper West Side. The space is tight, but the tables have just enough space between them to feel comfortable, and the music is present but not loud. The wait staff is quite good, striking a rare balance of being attentive without hovering, and the service is truly some of the best, making guests feel welcomed like family. The food is phenomenal, flavorful, and authentic. The spaghetti & meatballs and chicken parm are both delicious, with the meatballs being a standout: moist, flavorful, and a generous portion. The pink sauce pappardelle (no sausage) was just ok, sort of bland, and the pasta felt overcooked. The cannelloni was also just ok, with the shell a little eggy tasting. The tiramisu was just ok, sort of dry. A basic salad is fresh but nothing particularly memorable. Wine by the glass or bottle offers a great selection. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion size. Dessert to go is a great choice. A true authentic gem that exceeds all expectations.
