I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I have been going to Quatorze since the early 1990’s when Mark and Peter were on 79th St. I was thrilled when the restaurant recently moved to my corner at 82nd and 1st Ave. and have always enjoyed dining there. NEVER AGAIN. I just had the most awful in-person experience with a manager, Nino who was rude, dismissive and argumentative. And all I wanted to do was make a reservation. Quatorze is a charming spot on the Upper East Side, offering a cozy French bistro atmosphere perfect for enjoying a martini and fries at the bar or a delicious dinner. The staff is friendly and attentive, providing great customer service, while the owners are hands-on, greeting tables and ensuring a welcoming environment. The restaurant serves classic dishes like Cassoulet and duck confit, which are highly praised for being excellent and flavorful. The atmosphere features muted yellow walls and framed French posters, creating a warm and inviting setting. Well-spaced tables make for a relaxing experience, especially in the quiet early hours. The food includes rich and comforting options like onion soup, pate, string beans, and cassoulet. Many dishes are consistent and timeless, with chef's skill evident in every bite. Quatorze is ideal for those seeking authentic French bistro cooking in an adult, relaxed atmosphere. Customers often enjoy the laid-back yet classy vibe, with some favorites being the duck magret and boeuf bourguignon, which is so tender it melts in your mouth. The menu offers a good variety of wine, and dishes like steak and duck are highly recommended. The place is also known for its oysters, cooked to perfection, and a standout dessert like the apple tart or Myers lemon tart topped with blackberries. The friendly service includes the chef coming out to say hello, making each visit special. Overall, Quatorze is a highly-rated restaurant that provides a consistently excellent dining experience.
