We stopped by to try an Egg Cream (which, amusingly, contains neither egg nor cream) — a frothy mix of milk, fizzy water, and syrup. We’re glad we gave it a try! Ray served us with a smile, and the place itself is full of history — it even has its own Wikipedia page. A fun and memorable experience!
Saw the story of the owner Ray and I just had to visit. Drove from Staten Island with my son just to meet this beautiful human being not forgetting very hardworking. As we stepped inside he walked in behind us and with a big smile he said hello. I said hello Mr Ray can I have a pic with u and he smiled and said sure. We chat a bit, I told him I was from Trinidad and Tobago and he knew where it was close to. I must say for his age (92) he's moves around very strong and energetic....
Rays is a legendary place. It's like walking into Willie Wonka's. I have been coming here for 45 years and Ray is an icon. He is one of the great things about NY, as is his store. I would vote for him as the mayor! Not only are his fries, egg creams, milk shakes, fried Oreos and beignets touched by heaven but his store is a welcoming oasis in a world that should apprecciate this more than it does. I love Ray and all he represents. May his store and him live forever!...
