The Eggplant Parmesan was perfectly prepared with the best breading I have tasted. It seems like the same breading that makes their Vegetable Tempura, Popcorn Shrimp, . . . so good. The vegan NUMU mozzarella cheese did not disappoint. The sweet basil marinara sauce is fine but, for years, I have become accustomed to a less sweet non-basil marinara sauce at home so I can not rave about the basil sauce until it grows on me as I suspect it will. My guess is most people would prefer Red Bamboo's sweet basil sauce over the less sweet non-basil sauce that I am use to eating at home. For dessert, I had a slice of their vegan Oreo Cheesecake, and it was 95% as good as the best chocolate cheesecakes I use to have before I turned vegan. It seemed like the largest slice of cake I ever had at a restaurant, so I had to take most of it home to finish it off the next day.

I’ve been to Red Bamboo many times. Big portions of wonderful comfort food. Today I stopped by for lunch and indulged in a vegan pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and fries. So yummy.

I saw some mixed reviews about this place so I picked my appetizer and entree based on the good reviews I saw and these dishes did not disappoint. I got the jerk-spiced seitan as the app which had a lovely flavor. The seitan was very soft and not chewy. I then got the coconut chicken, which was so tasty and the texture of the “meat” and breading was perfect👍. I got this HUGE slice of peanut butter bomb cake for dessert, so yum. I was also recommended the ginger juice with lemon and pineapple which was also a good addition to the experience. Updated from previous review on 2025-04-07

Sign said it was the “Michael Jordan of vegan food”…and was really great. Menu is EXPANSIVE, service is friendly, bathroom is clean (if small), and the food was hot and delicious.

Chicken satay with the peanut sauce was heavenly. Also absolutely loved the death by chocolate slice of chocolate cake. The dining room is cozy but does not feel too crowded or loud. Staff are awesome. Can’t wait to come back to try everything on the menu!

Restaurant opened several minutes after 12pm but super friendly staff and nice atmosphere inside once we were seated. Ordered three dishes: - Red curry tofu: very flavorful, nice textured tofu, but wished the eggplant was sautéed or cooked differently as it lacked flavor - Spicy chicken with broccoli: my friend’s all-time favorite meal here - Thai beef curry: really good curry Very comprehensive vegan menu with a strong emphasis on fake meats

This is the first time I tried vegan food. Oh my goodness it was amazing 🤩. I don’t think people need meat. Everything things we Odored delicious. One of my friends suggested this place. We came from staten island to try this food. It was a great time. And people who work there so friendly. You should try this place.

We got the barbecue buffalo wings and they were so tough. We felt like we fought to take it off the stick. Over all the food was just ok.

There was a waitress named Kate who demanded a tip and told us how much we should give. It was very unprofessional and unpleasant. On top of that, she stared at our table for most of the time and then loudly confronted me and my friends in front of other customers. She also complained about making less than minimum wage, which I sympathize with, but it’s not my responsibility. As a long-time customer, I’ve never had an experience like this before. Furthermore, there was nothing on the receipt indicating that a tip was mandatory or suggesting an amount. I did leave a tip, but then she loudly questioned why I didn’t give her more. I unfortunately will not be eating here again.

The food at this restaurant was good, and I appreciated the quality and flavors of the dishes we ordered. However, my overall experience was significantly overshadowed by an uncomfortable interaction with the waitress.

After our meal, the waitress confronted me and my friends about the tip we left her. While I understand that tipping is customary, I do not appreciate being pressured or made to feel uncomfortable about how much I choose to leave. It felt inappropriate and unprofessional, especially since we had already paid for our meal and left what we believed was a fair amount.

This incident left a sour taste and made the dining experience unpleasant. I value respectful and courteous service, and I do not feel comfortable returning to a place where I felt pressured in such a way. As a result, I will not be visiting this restaurant again.
