A true East Village gem! Cozy ambiance, amazing selection of natural European wines, and delicious food. What really makes it special is the staff - bartender, servers, and chef are all so warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Service is great, and food and drinks menu creative. However, I was not impressed with either. I loved the pork shoulder, but not so much much the other dishes. The atmosphere is nice but way too loud for easy conversation.

Just the best. Favorite wine bar in the world, bar none (no pun intended… maybe a little though). Up until coming here for the first time four years ago, I was largely tepid (at best) when it came to wine. Then their incredible selection opened up a whole new door to wine I didn’t even know existed. Turns out, Eastern/central European wines are my favorite, and their thoughtfully curated menu never has any shortage of options to try and fall in love with. Bummed they don’t have their covid-era outdoor patio situation anymore, but thats obviously not that deep. Staff/somms are so kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and personable especially to chit chat with about wine or, like, anything else. Big thanks and love to them for helping me figure out what wine is my vibe. I love Ruffian always forever.

Amazing experience here, such unique flavors in their wines. We had two custom flights (reds and whites and an incredible extra glass of orange wine). Until going here I’d never had a white wine with notes of “dried aged meat” but it was great. Our server Joseph was very knowledgeable and helpful with navigating the menu. We will definitely be back!

We had a fantastic evening at Ruffian! The selection of wines by the glass is both exciting and unconventional – with lots of interesting discoveries, including some great non-alcoholic options.
We ordered several small plates to share, and the staff paired each one with the perfect wine. Everything was flavorful, well-balanced, and a great way to start the evening. The potato and chard dumplings and the hamachi were particular highlights – absolutely delicious!
A big thank-you to the team for the warm, attentive service and the overall wonderful experience.

Ruffian was an incredible experience overall, from their delicious bites to their extensive wine list! There are sparkling wines, orange wines, white wines, and even pink wines! The sparkling wine pictured below was SO crisp and also subtly sweet. A perfect combination for summer. The menu primarily has shareable plates so I would order a lot if you’re a big party. The portions were quite small. The quality of the produce was top tier. We could also tell that they put a lot of thought into the flavor combos. One of my favorites probably had to be the one with beets. I would go back again and again and again!!

An incredible selection of wines, even by the glass with extremely helpful and warm staff, cute ambience inside and outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. Absolutely highly recommend must go!
