We got the mezza for two and it was fine but I can name a dozen restaurants with better within ten blocks. The service was disintrested but generally pleasant. Cute space and you can sit there forever which is nice if your primary objective is to hang with friends rather than get the very best food in a place that needs to turn over tables.

Had a wonderful dinner with friends. The restaurant was comfortable, and quiet enough to have a good, long conversation. Highly recommend!

I just come for the apps and ambiance. Pita is so fluffy and always hot. One server lady is not friendly at all but it keeps the crowds away so there’s never a wait. Incredible prices too.

Decent restaurant with lots of choice of Mediterranean cuisine. The prices are not too high but it lacks flavor. The interior is in its original state and sometimes a little old. Same observation in the toilets. The service was good and fairly quick.

The lamb macloubee and the peach ice cream were delicious. It's now on my favorite list.

I ate here many times before and the experience was wonderful. The food used to be great. Sadly, this time around I was disappointed. The food seemed to be a messy concoction, rice was cold but the look of the place was very festive. I think the cook needs more experience…maybe some time in the place where the food is from to respect it. This food should be sacred and delicious. The history is too grand for such blandness. Do better please!

Exotically decorated townhouse ground floor with Moroccan wall hangings, cushions, cozy booths with low banquettes. Great visual style that the supposedly Mideastern food doesn't keep up with. Hummus had no garlic or lemon bite. We tried a good salmon curry, a large filet with a curried cream sauce. (curry, really?) The Salmon couscous (hoping for a tagine) was another fish filet with some plain couscous and steamed veggies on the side. The Lamb Kofte was a ground lamb patty with some rice and a few plain steamed veggies, but none of the dishes had the pizzazz or ethnic spice we were hoping for. No condiments to add either. So it has great ambience for a party but just so-so continental cuisine. Still, Salam is well priced for NYC, attractive and serves relatively large portions. Could not give it a 5 but a 4 will do for the right customer.

Food is always tasty, the prices are not too bad for the area as well. We came here on a Sunday evening, the place was not too crowded, but not empty either. It's a very cozy spot, the decor was nice and the music was kept fairly low. Service was a little bit on the slow side, but there seemed to only be one person handling all the front of house duties, so it was understandable.Definitely recommended if you want a chill spot to get together with some friends and have sex good conversations!

I ordered the lamb kebab and it was barely seasoned and was laying on a bland plate of rice and unseasoned vegetables. I will say the decor was cute, but when I went with a group of friends, the place was completely empty at what I would consider peak dinner hours. I was shocked to see the prices for the measly amount of food they serve. I have been to other middle-eastern places within walking distance that give twice as much delicious food for a fraction of the price. I was willing to forgive this place for the not so amazing experience since my friends seemed to enjoy their meal, except that once we had already paid the bill we saw a mouse running around the dining area. I won’t be returning and would suggest that if you’re looking for middle eastern food you should allow yourself to expand your search options to an additional 10 minutes walking and I’m sure you’ll find better quality and pricing elsewhere. Total came out to $150 for 4 people and we only got one drink and one entree each with a shared appetizer.. NOT including tip.. go somewhere else.

Really liked this place. Service was a little slow...they only had one waitress. But, I would not hold that against them. Their menu was unique and we all liked our meals. Definitely recommend it.

Visited this place with my husband, hoping for a taste of home. We admired the decor and wanted to take photos (no people, who would want strangers eating in their photos?!!!). The owner (who was also the cook and server, along with son and husband who were equally rude) asking us to stop taking pictures because it's felony. When we tried to order, the rudeness continued. I read the name of the plate in Arabic as it was written and the Owner who was taking our order looked at me with disgust they were rude because were speaking Arabic. The way they looked at us when we were speaking and smiling and having a cosy time, made us feel like it was time to go and they kicked us out.

we were a party of 3 and had 3 different entrees that we shared and each one was delicious, perfectly spiced with tender chicken and just the right amount of heat. the atmosphere is clans and cheerful. The service quick and very attentive. I will be recommending to my friends and family and will be back soon.

Love this place. It's a small staff and intimate ambiance. Such good food, and you must order a bottle of the Kasara red. Tiny one or two table outdoor seating is available, but plenty of indoor space. Good baba and hummus, warm pita, and such a fresh garden salad. We are often dining here. It's a go to!
