Didn't have the best experience, dining room was open to the street even though it was muggy and loud outside. Said the restaurant week menu is no longer offered that Sunday even though someone on the phone confirm it was. Finally received this side of sad grilled veggies that's basically $1 a slice. The other food was ok, good rissoto and pasta.

I am so bored of red sauce Italian-American food! I longed for a restaurant with interesting, delicious pasta dishes and found San Carlo. We had a salad and three different pastas, and each dish was thoughtful and balanced. Went back twice in one week for the spaghettone with anchovies. We even have a new favorite truffle pasta in the city! I no longer live here, but will make it a point to return every time I visit family. We loved it, food and service was impeccable.

Excellent service, great food and good prices. Recommended!

P.S: By any means, I am not Italian, but the food felt like the most authentic Italian food I have tried so far in NYC.

Charming ambiance, great service and good quality food. Some of the items that we ordered were not super delicious, but I think the restaurant still deserves 5 stars, as some items were and the presentation was great.
Lamb ragú was superb!

A bit generic, slightly upscale feeling Italian spot with really excellent dishes. Everything we had, from apps to entrees was truly delicious and very well made.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience.

The service was attentive. However, the food quality was extremely disappointing — and at times even alarming.

I was served meatballs that were clearly made with spoiled meat — the unpleasant smell and taste were impossible to ignore. This isn’t just bad cooking, it’s a serious health risk. I could have gotten food poisoning.

The Caesar salad was equally confusing. Instead of a proper Caesar, I received a tiny handful of greens topped with breadcrumbs and a strange green sauce. It didn’t taste terrible, but it absolutely wasn’t what I ordered or expected. When you ask for a Caesar salad, you don’t expect a mystery reinterpretation.

And finally, the pappardelle pasta we ordered with a white sauce was brought out with a red one — and not just any red sauce. It was so intensely sour it actually gave me heartburn. We couldn’t eat more than a couple of bites.

Despite the friendly service, this experience left me upset and honestly concerned. A restaurant should never serve spoiled meat or completely disregard what was ordered. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issues in the kitchen.

Went shopping in SoHo and got a solid rec from the staff at Fendi — they all raved about San Carlo Osteria Piemonte, so we had to try it. We got seated right away and chose to sit inside since the sun was peeking through and it was getting a little warm.

The wine recs were spot-on, and the food? Absolutely amazing. I’m still thinking about the bread — crusty like a good sourdough on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside. We started with the crudité and Caesar salad, which were both super fresh and flavorful. Two of my friends got the lobster pasta (a hit), and I went for the Bolognese — hearty, rich, and just perfect. The white wine was bomb too.

They also do a really good espresso — smooth, strong, and the perfect way to wrap up the meal. Cozy vibes, great service, and even better food. Definitely a spot I’d go back to.
