Incredible servers, food and value. Will be back. Gnocchi was out of this world. Nutella pizza for dessert, too.
We had not been to San Matteo to have your pizzas in a while. At this new location, the pizzas were too thin and not crispy at all on the bottom- they were actually soggy and didn't hold the toppings! Although they tasted delicious, it was not what we remembered from the original location on 90th and second.
Servers constantly checking in on us (including servers not assigned to our table) and asking random questions was distracting (who needs more bread all of a sudden when they almost done with their main??). Completely ignored our presence though when they loudly and clumsily moved around tables next to us while we were eating. Food was meh
Pizza used to be fabulous. Now a soupy mess. Wine by glass exorbitant. $24 for no name red. Never going back.
Food was good, but we were sat in a dark corner and forgotten about for most of the evening. Service was poor. We had to wait a long time for initial service, as well as our final check.
Rrally fun restaurant ( great service, best brick oven pizza I have ever had. Noise level is challenging, looking forward to warm weather when we can eat outside!
We always love San Matteo. We recommend sitting in the back if you want pizza—being near the pizza oven means you get it as soon as it comes out of,the oven
Great food, amazing staff and terrific service! Our waiter Marco was very nice and patient. This pizzeria serves classic style Italian pizza, and has amazing pasta.
Never had a bad experience here, highly recommend it for both visitors and locals.
Kid-friendliness: Staff is friendly and restaurant is big enough for kids

4.7 stars rounded up. I had a pizza special on the chalkboard. Spanish ham, buratta, cacio & pepe cream, basil, spicy honey. Fantastic. Fluffy soft crust. Reminds me of the pizzas I had in Puglia and Naples. Waitstaff were friendly and always smiling. The owner seems to be Italian. He wandered the restaurant, speaking to guests -sometimes in Italian. Seemed so authentic I actually ate the pizza with knife and folk -the Italian way (the Italian speaking diners ate it with their hands like true New Yorkers). Wife had the Cappuccino (*gasp* No Italian has Cappuccino with lunch!). She didn't like it. I tasted it. It was true Italian Cappuccino -not loaded with milk, foam and whipped cream like typical American places she's used to. I liked it. But then again, I've become a snob when it comes to Italian food. This place is great for foodie snobs like me and for just families looking for great pizza before they hit up the museum.

Had the burrata pie and it was delicious. Took it to go so didn't stay long but it was a nice, relaxed vibe from the moment you walk in. Staff was attentive and friendly.

My wife and I spent a 100% delightful lunch at this fantastic restaurant. The wait staff was excellent, friendly and fast. The eggplant, meatballs and pizzas were out of this world. Super delicious. This is most definitely a stop for us every time we are in New York. And as an extra bonus I got to practice my Italian with the server.

So disappointed. I love their chicken parm. Now they only have veal parm and it's crazy expensive over $50. I forgot exactly how much. Even if their on line menu lists chicken parm at $25. Noisy . Pizza is still delicious . Great crust. Super soft center. Friendly staff. Yummy salad at $19. Gnocchi was cold and blah. Sadly won't come back, used to be a favorite
Good pizza and menu selection. The restaurant is set up very awkwardly making seating uncomfortable. Especially avoid in person dining here on Fridays/Saturdays. The last time I was here it was so loud I couldn’t hear myself think, much less have a conversation with my partner

The most awful pizza we’ve had. The crust was soggy. The parm ham, mushrooms and olives were literally tossed on top a margherita pizza. That’s it!!! No flavor at all. We put the pizza in our toaster oven and the toppings came back to life.
Worst pizza restaurant in UES.
