One of the most authentic experiences in New York. Felt like I was in Japan. Food was amazing and service was equally as amazing. It is a very small and intimate environment where the quality of experience is heavily emphasized.

This tempura omakase spot is very good. My only issue with this spot is their booking systems it’s has a old look to it and long questionnaire. Please do us the customer a flavor and use “open table” or “resy” or just “Yelp”

Intimate setting made casual and pleasant by unique attention from the staff. You can see the chef at work from your table which is great. Only 6 seats in the restaurant but you really have your own intimacy. Great quality products made greater by the great vibes resonating in this restaurent. Highly highly recommend.

BEST RESTAURANT IN NYC! Daimu is the best host and waiter we have ever had!!!! Truly a gem. So kind. So funny. So helpful. Plus the food is incredible and you truly feel like you’re transported to the streets of Japan. Chef Yokota is a master at his craft and the experience is truly one of a kind and very special. Can’t wait to come back for the next celebration!

A fantastic hidden gem in the East Village. They have just 6 seats and three seatings per night. The vibe is nice and intimate. The owners Ari, her husband Atsushi (Chef), and manager Daimu are spectacular people. Daimu in particular was the highlight of the dinner - he has a great energy and stellar service. For the uninitiated, this spot is like a sushi omakase but focused less on fish and more tempura. We had ~14 dishes while were were here and our service lasted a little under 3 hours. Would highly recommend if you want a culinary experience!

Best waiter ever, and some of the prettiest food I've had. I felt transported to Japan for the couple of hours of the meal. The waiter was very helpful, explaining the food thoroughly and advising me on how to best eat it. The chef worked alone in the kitchen producing one dish after another with lots of care. The wagyu beef was delicious, though I was a bit jealous of the default dish other people got, because it looked really good too. The restaurant is tiny, only six seats at the counter, which makes it cozy, though I wouldn't call it intimate since everyone can see and hear each other.

Dine solo was fun. The restaurant is really kind of at-home feel, the manager(sorry I forgot his name almost a month ago) was super friendly super nice, I even got a hug from him, lol, was sweet. The tempura were great. They will advise you the sauce for each course if you want to hear, or you can also skip if you want to go with your own way. The shrimp were awesome, and omg the scallop was ridiculously delicious! Got to try that. Uni was another surprise with crispy shiso leaf.I regret for ordering wagyu course, too much for my appetite. the dish was nice, it’s just the nature of Wagyu is very fatty and you may not want it after having many amazing courses of tempura. It’s definitely a good place to hangout. The atmosphere is kinda relaxed and intimate. You will be very comfortable to both talk or stay silent.

This is a genuinely unique omakase experience that you won't want to miss! It's tempura! And each piece delivered the crunchy freshness that you really want from a tempura. Let me start at the end, because the owner's wife is such a sweetheart and was the perfect host; guiding us throughout each course with explanations of the pieces and how to eat them (I know, you didn't think you'd need instructions on how to eat a simple piece of tempura, did you? But trust the process!). She explained to us that the concept of this place was inspired by her husband's (the chef) background with French cooking techniques (he is a 3rd generation chef after all) and his love of tempura (so much so that he just wanted to eat more of it, so he started this restaurant!). She was so warm, and she even gave us a hug as we were leaving!Ok, now to the courses. To get started, we had an amuse of Burdock ikura rice crisps, dashi julep. Altogether, those flavors blended so well and provided an amazing mouthfeel. The second course consisted of 4 pieces (which I believe can change from day to day, so I can't really tell you want to expect), but my favorite of that set was the Foie gras biscuit with ginger jam (!!!) that literally changed my perspective on what ginger can be in a dish! The rhythm of the courses alternates between fish and vegetables. Each piece felt like it complemented the one that went before. My personal favorite was the Shiso Uni tempura. And it's Hokkaido uni, so you know you're getting the real deal!Ambiance wise, it's a very intimate setting, with seating for just 3 couples. I find that smaller is usually better with omakase in general, because it allows for a more detailed and personal experience, so I appreciated this aspect. I highly recommend Secchu Yokota!

I’m sorry but I have to be honest here. The food here is extremely overpriced for the quality and the atmosphere. It’s basically one chef and one waiter doing the entire restaurant so there’s a very limited seating. The dinner cost close to $200 and there are just a few dishes that come with it. They are just very mediocre and bland. Additionally, the waiter is a little bit weird because he is so super expressive that it’s a bit creepy. Given the extremely high cost for the extremely low quality of food, I didn’t tip them, and the waiter texted me the following day multiple times asking for a tip. I finally had to tell him that the food wasn’t good so that he would stop bothering me. Never again.
