Had the frozen hot chocolate and it was basically a bowl of whip cream, not worth $20

Food is terrible. Unseasoned, not sweet. Service was terrible . We got a awful seat right by the door, and my wife requested we move to another table. A server reseated us, and then the “hostess” came up to tell us that was unacceptable and “WE” had to let the hosts know if we want to be reseated. All of this for the food to be sub par. Definitely not worth the hype or money, and we will never go back.

I have a problem with sweetness. I like sweet but I don't like too sweet, so when I ordered the mint hot chocolate I thought it was going to taste minty which I like. Instead I got so much whipped cream that I couldn't take a sip and when I got to the chocolate it was way too sweet. I also tried the shortbread which was kind of stale and was just mediocre. When I finally got my grilled cheese a massive part of the cheese was burnt and the underside of it was soggy. The servers were super nice though.

Overall I would say that this place focuses more on presentation than actual taste.

Doesn’t live up to its must see advertising. Food is over sugared and insanely expensive, service was very slow and it’s very cramped inside. Banana split was $30 for a banana and a few scoops of ice cream.

I never write reviews. It’s just not my thing but I was truly impressed with this restaurant. I’ll start by complaining that there was only a frozen vegan hot chocolate and not the classic beverage. We plan to go back to enjoy it over the summer, easy fix. The servers were all very friendly and helpful. The thing that stood out to me is that the staff is truly happy and they have very good relationships among themselves. When the servers brought food out for their table, the other servers went out of their way to ask if they needed help distributing the food to that table. Whenever the staff came out of the kitchen, they were either smiling or laughing. It’s important for staff to get along to better serve their guests and it shows that that’s exactly what goes on here. We’ll be going back, not only for the good food, but for the positive atmosphere. Thank you for making this a fun dining experience!

This is our absolute favorite place to come in the City. The pics below are 11 years apart. You can get some the frozen hot chocolate in cans to go & TSA friendly. This is a must stop in the city. It would be a great location for a party. 🎈

Definitely a 10 out of 10 that’s including the staff, the people, the food, the dessert and my experience there. First time going great experience definitely will come again! It was my birthday and my server along with other customers sang happy birthday to me it felt very nice :)

Food and desserts are big portions so prepare to share; very fully. Would definitely like to try their tea party option next time.

A classic NYC experience. Serendipity 3 is pure fun from start to finish—charming atmosphere, friendly service, and indulgent treats that live up to the hype. The desserts are legendary, rich, and perfect for sharing, and the food was enjoyable as well. The only downside was the long bathroom line—guess the sugar hit everyone at the same time 😄. A must-visit spot for families or anyone looking to enjoy a nostalgic New York favorite.

Cool, fun place to go with the family! The food was good (burger & fries, chips & queso, chicken tenders), but the frozen hot chocolate was the best!
Reservation is HIGHLY recommended.

Finally checked Serendipity off my bucket list! Crowded but easy peasy if you make a reservation. We tried the Classic Frozen Hot Chocolate and it was incredible! Topped with the homemade whipped cream, it exceeded our expectations. Can’t wait to go back soon!

The seat was pretty small and narrow if you only order the frozen hot chocolate it’s ok but if with meals it’s just too small. The frozen hot chocolate is very delicious but the portion doesn’t match the price.

This is a tourist trap. If you go then only go for dessert. Don’t waste your time and money on having lunch or dinner there. It’s just not worth it.

This is a no. We had sundaes- mine was peanut butter and fine. The ice cream was essentially melted before it hit the table. But the big issue is that my daughter was on her hands and knees sick within an hour of leaving. Turns out the chocolate cake is known for causing food poisoning. So $85 for two sundaes and a soft drink later she was scarily sick. It’s all over Reddit, so it’s on me for not doing research. Atmosphere is fine. Super hot inside and very overpriced. Look for a non tourist trap for good food, and there are desserts all over the place. If you want a photo op, go for it.

Got the serendipitous hot chocolate and it was delicious! Definitely too sweet but good taste.

The menu was huge, and portions looked ginormous based on what customers around us were ordering. Will be back to try the frozen hot chocolate!
