Food is no good. Service is weirdly fake. The lady gave me the check before my food was served to at the table. She seems like a money hungry person.

A word of appreciation to the nice lady Manager / Boss at ShangHai Mong. Good food, large portion. Friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant at Koreatown NY.

I noticed the care put into each dish. Service flows smoothly thanks to the attentive staff. The menu balances quality and affordability perfectly. The buzz around this spot is legitimate. Our return is guaranteed.

Are you sure for this restaurant. They add 25% for tips. 🙂↕️
I went here on halloween when the place was absolutely packed and there was a line out the door. Even in those conditions, the food was good and the servers were very attentive. I had a really good time.

Food taste very mediocre, food came out 7 mins after we ordered it literally faster than fast food Chinese restaurant
, and we were eating 2 party they purposely add 20% automatic tip and menu specifically written party or 4 auto tip 20% party of 8 auto 25%
We ate left right away 30min total, I would not recommend, server who purposely put 20% and manager never told us they are sorry that they made mistake, manager lady came out say you want me to take 20% tip off????

DO NOT COME HERE. Other people have left complaints about the same thing but they try to sneak in a 20% gratuity which is illegal as their menu states that it’s only included for parties over 4. I only have a party of two and they removed it afterwards but they hope that you don’t notice and won’t even apologize for trying to take advance of you. Host was also very unaccommodating and the food wasn’t even all that.

I've become a regular customer here for good reason. Our visit showed quality from the first moment onward. The standard others should follow. The staff make this place stand out for all the right reasons. If you're in the vicinity, this place delivers.

Never knew a Koreatown exists in NYC. Had an appetizer of 10 Fried Dumplings in Shanghai special sauce , Which by itself is a meal for one. Very tasty with some very spicy hot dried chilis. Vegetarian Bak Choy and mushrooms and rice with a side of beef Protein. My wife had a seafood entree with a spiced rice. My brother had one of their specials with 3 items black bean noodles, seafood type soup and another item I don't recall. But he ate all of it. Great and timely service with the drinks, appetizers and meal. Portions are very decent size. Don't see a cause for any bad reviews. Just the atmosphere of people laughing and having a good time was also a great accompanying the mealtime.👍💯 Only problem was just beer and wine. The Plum wine was a surprise sweet but not thick. For Downtown NYC definitely filling and affordable!

I got the black bean noodle dish split with a friend, which was served in a huge plate so there was definitely enough food for the both of us. Noodles were tasty, lots of onions, wished there were more meat though. The noodles were also very springy, which I loved.
I came in a party of 14, which was the first mistake. And we came on a Friday night at 9pm, so obviously we were waiting for almost an hour outside. One friend had to leave early so we were down to 13. When we were finally let in, there weren’t enough seats or space at the table for all 13, so two friends left even thought they waited with us for the full duration. I don’t hold it against the restaurant though because it was rush hour, and Ktown is very lively at this time. Just letting large groups know to perhaps find a bigger place instead 😅
Inside, the venue was crowded due to the amount of people, and the lights were dim so I felt like I was at a bar. If that’s the vibes you’re going for, then this place is perfect. Would not recommend it as a date spot though, because it was hard to hear people due to how lively the restaurant was. I was sitting really close to my friends due to the lack of space and I was still struggling to hear. Miscellaneous notes: music was good; decorations followed an Asian fusion theme; pickled radish and kimchi tasted extremely fresh!
