Food was excellent and our chef was very nice. However the waitress was a bit rude and rushed the experience. Asked us to pay the second we stopped eating because of another booking the next hour. The music also ruined the vibe, you’d think for an omakase experience, the environment would be better. But no, songs from
Katy perry and one direction were playing and just ruined the mood.

I’ve been there twice and both experience were disappointing. Food is alright, within expectations but their service was bad. Just be prepared that forget about service or it would destroy your mood eating at this restaurant.

Shinn West is a nice budget-friendly omakase option in Hell’s Kitchen — $69 for 13 courses is definitely a great deal in NYC, and the fish quality was decent for the price.

They had a few cocktail options, but beer was limited to Kyoto IPA (original, yuzu, or matcha). The overall experience, though, felt a bit lacking. There was a strong fishy smell when I walked in, the space felt cold and not very welcoming, and the restroom really needed more care.
