Absolutely perfect Omakase. Possibly the best sushi of my life. The fish tasted incredibly fresh and the owner is truly a master craftsman.

It has a strategic location, attracts a large number of overseas students, and regularly imports various fish. Not only does it have good service but also the warm reception of the chef.

Loved the dinner outing here for my wife's birthday. We ordered the 15 pc Omakase and thoroughly enjoyed every dish that came out. There are two chefs working simultaneously each catering to 4-6 folks. Service was great with plates being swapped and cleaned timely, and the staff were attentive overall. Price is good for Omakase in NYC, and the location is superb with its close proximity in midtown to Penn Station and K-Town. I made a reservation a day prior for Friday evening, so it's not too tough to get a spot (you need to confirm via app and phone call day of). A strong recommend for me.

Efficient one hour omakase experience with 15 courses. Everything was delicious.I was especially impressed with how generous they are with uni - at least 3 courses had uni and they are all of incredible quality. The fish melts in your mouth. Seasonings were a great complement to the food. They are offering a buy 1 get 1 50% off deal. Normal price is £139 per person + tax and tips. I personally think it's worth it.

Completely agree with the low reviews! Great use of expensive ingredients but experience was poor. You would have expected a lot more technique from the chefs for what you pay for (i.e. sushi rice was falling off multiple times, chef was a tad messy and disorganized). Sushi actually fell and broke apart right when we received the sushi. And to our surprise, the restaurant charged an additional $80 on top of what we had signed off with our credit card. This was so frustrating. We were also shocked that there was a lack of clarity regarding the fact that drinks served to us was chargeable.I really wanted to love it but would 100% never be back.

We went to Shinpi Omakase last weekend and had a great time. The chef at was super interactive which made the experience really fun.We got the 15 course omakase for $139. The meal included super cool cuts, the most memorable being Snake Belly Tuna. Our favorite bite was the King Salmon, so fresh and melted in our mouths ?

I like omakase because of the quality of the fish. Here, they're aiming for an artsy dining experience. Which, the food was. However, the ambiance was that of an elevator. Elevator music, quiet. I'd prefer to have a fun night out. Here, it's sit there quietly and watch me make this food.

Overall a decent experience. We had the 18-course menu for 169 pp. I personally think it’s a pretty good deal. Ingredients are fresh. Sushi rice is well cooked and seasoned. The selection of fish/meat is thoughtful and they compliments each other. Service is to the standard. Cups are filled in time and plates are cleaned right away. The meal starts with miso soup. Followed by chawanmushi and oyster. Then assorted nigiri. End with a jelly desert. The only thing was the time management. I feel rushed at the end of the meal. We were at our third last course but the next round of reservation was already in the seating area waiting. We can feel the chefs frustration. We added a hand roll in the end. The chef rushed through and rice fell out of the roll lol.Bar seats only with 10 seats each round. Reservation is recommended.

We love omakase and have been to many in the city, and this is one of our favorites so far! Intimate space with a very inviting atmosphere, and the menu is classic with a nice set of appetizers and also includes dessert. The French toast bite and the baby squid were among our favorites. It’s also a great deal for BYOB. Chef Eric is great and we will be back!

The sushi itself was delicious, and there were many high quality and fresh ingredients— the uni was especially standout. However, the overall experience was extremely uncomfortable due to poor service, and not worth what we paid (>$200/person).My boyfriend and I were seated at the end with a seemingly brand new sushi chef behind the counter. If you told me it was this guy’s first time ever making sushi, I would believe you. Every single step of the process, he would turn to the main chef, Chef Eric, for guidance. He didn’t know the correct tools to be used, how much soy sauce to top the sushi with, how much to sear the fish with the blowtorch, so on and so forth. The rice kept falling apart before we could even pick the nigiri up. At one point he accidentally dropped the hand roll he was making all over the table, shoveled the components back into the nori, and unceremoniously handed it to me as such.I have never seen such inexperienced staff being trained on paying customers at a place that is meant to serve such a high-end, high service meal. What made this experience feel even worse was that of the 8 people there, we were the only two being served by this chef; the rest were being served by the main chef. It felt unfair to receive such a blatantly worse experience compared to the other diners. Mostly though, it was just uncomfortable and awkward to be put in that situation.Simply put, the meal was far too expensive for how poor the service experience was. This is not how you do omakase!

The best omakase experience my partner and I have ever experienced! We came here to celebrate a birthday and are glad we chose so. Not only was every course unique, fresh, and delicious, they were prepared so thoughtfully and playfully, which we really enjoyed. Thank you to Chef Eric and his team for making the experience feel so cozy, intimate, and fun— we’ll definitely be coming back the next time we’re in NYC.
