Teddy and the Shogun team are incredible! I booked a VERY important client with them and they took such great care of my clients, they were raving about the experience they had. I will be recommending them again and thank you for doing such a great job, Teddy!

** Do not come here with a shellfish allergy** my family got the omakase set b and they loved it.Dietary restrictions: This is not a good place to go if you have a shellfish allergy. There is a significant amount of cross contamination.

The food is amazing and the interior is super nice and pretty! The chashu was so moist and flavorful - would definitely recommend adding extra chashu to treat yourself. The bao was my least favorite of the night. But I do recommend getting at least one of the desserts to top off your meal. Recommend for ramen lovers.

Everything came out fast and hot. We sat in the booth seating which allowed for a nice sense of privacy, perfect for our date night.Staff was really friendly and the food was amazing. Definitely a must try!

While the restaurant is fairly attractive and servers were pleasant, the dining experience is absolutely without finesse and sophistication. Sushi was not beautifully made, fish was mushy and was not particularly flavorful most of the time (the king salmon was actually the only exception). From the very start, the meal disappointed. The appetizer of crab soup was strange and viscous (thickened with cornstarch?) with a massive amount of odd tasting garlic (jarred/preminced?). This dish was much more like a mediocre dish from Chinatown and not Japanese at all. Even the dishes throughout were clearly Chinese versions, not the interesting dishes one often sees in high-end Japanese restaurants. This was a disappointing meal that should have been priced at $40-50, not $100+.

Shogun is just what I was looking for, a professionally-run sushi restaurant that is clean and unpretentious. If you go, sit at the counter and have the sushi chef decide for you what’s best. My chef was fantastic…5 stars.

I recently visited a Japanese restaurant for an omakase dining experience and it was incredibly delightful. This was my first time trying omakase, and it far exceeded my expectations. The quality of the food was exceptional; each dish was a masterpiece of flavors, meticulously crafted and presented. The chef’s skill and attention to detail were evident in every bite, and the freshness of the ingredients really shone through. The atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall experience, making it not just a meal, but a memorable journey through Japanese culinary artistry. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to immerse themselves in a genuine omakase experience. It’s not just about the food, but the story each dish tells, and the passion behind it. Truly a remarkable and unforgettable experience!

The service was amazing, as expected. For the price, I think from the experience and things served it was well worth it. Many new flavors that I haven’t tasted yet, so each dish surprised me

From the opening salad to my first bite of nigiri to my closing dessert everything was spectacular. It was a pleasure to meet each of them, especially Chef Kai who explained each delicious course as he made and presented it.

Truly enjoyed my first omakase experience. I got so lucky to have Yama-san to be my chef for the night. His skills were amazing and each nigiri was served with a smile and hospitality. I am sure there are omakases out there that deserve the highest praises but for me, I’ll hold this experience dear because each and every course I had were so heartwarming and I could see the integrity in Yama-san as a sushi chef. I came to this omakase alone but I did not feel as such because he made me feel welcomed. I did not think I would learn so much in an hour, while being served food. It was such a delightful experience. I hope to have him again next time I visit NYC.
