Food is good, but my back is painful eating there…the height difference between table and chair make no sense…

We visited Shuya for dinner and tried the Brussels sprouts tempura with truffle salt, Tebasaki (fried chicken wings), Salmon Salad, and Classic Shoyu ramen. The food was overall very tasty! The highlight was definitely the Classic Shoyu ramen, which had a rich, flavorful broth and fresh, homemade noodles that elevated the dish. The tempura and wings were excellent as well, but the salmon salad fell short and isn’t something I would order again.

The service, however, left room for improvement. While it wasn’t outright bad, it lacked friendliness and attentiveness. For example, another group was seated after us and they were mistakenly served our appetizer. Although the servers noticed and acknowledged it to each other, nothing was mentioned to us. A quick explanation or apology would have gone a long way in clearing up the confusion, especially since we saw the mix-up happen and had already been waiting for a long time.

Overall, Shuya delivers on flavor and creativity with its food, but the service could use some polish to match the quality of the dining experience. The unique concept of combining a Japanese restaurant with a furniture showroom adds an interesting ambiance that’s worth checking out!

I loved Shuya so much. I am very tough on how noodles are cooked and Shuya’s ramen noodles were perfectly cooked. The soup was so delicious. I also love their sushi rolls. They are so fresh. You can tell the chef is passionate about his craft.
The service was timely and friendly.
This restaurant is one of my go to places in NY from now on.

The ramen and rice balls were delicious. The shop was clean, bright, and a bit of a stylish ramen shop. It looked like it was full on the website, but when I went there, there were empty seats and I was able to get in easily.

Nestled in the heart of the city, this ramen spot is nothing short of a culinary gem. From the moment we entered, we were greeted by a beautiful, peaceful ambiance that set the tone for an unforgettable meal. The friendly staff immediately made us feel at home, enhancing our dining experience.

We started with the chicken wings, which were perfectly crispy and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a delightful prelude to what was to come. Paired with exquisite tea, the meal was off to a fantastic start.

But the real star of the evening was the ramen. We opted for the assari yuzu, and the flavors were simply unbelievable. The broth was light yet incredibly rich, with hints of orange zest that elevated the dish without making it oily. The freshly made noodles had the perfect bite, and the fermented egg was a revelation—perfectly seasoned and bursting with umami.

Even the bok choy, often an afterthought in many ramen bowls, stood out with a freshness that made us appreciate every component of the dish. Sitting at the bar, we had a front-row seat to the chef’s artistry, and watching him craft each bowl was mesmerizing.

As I closed my eyes and savored each spoonful, I truly felt transported to Japan. This ramen experience is one that I will cherish and eagerly recommend to anyone looking for the best ramen NYC has to offer. Don’t miss this culinary journey!

This place looks nice but food was disappointing. Limited menu..The meat was very fatty and not fully cooked. Do not recommend. The 5 star reviews were misleading.

I've had my share of NYC ramen, and honestly, this might be in now my top 5 places. Got the Wagyu truffle ramen, and the flavor was amazing. Can't wait to come back.

Absolutely delicious! Decor is modern and service is quick and friendly. The broth is the type of clear broth that is light, aromatic but not overpowering. Noodle is cheery, meat is tender. Their fried chicken is superb, so flavorful and juicy, and not greasy! Will come back for sure.
