Personally I think it was ok. The soba tastes bland for me, I guess that’s just how the soba supposed to be. But I feel it’s authentic and refreshing. The sashimi and tempura are fresh. I like the matcha ice cream that comes with the set. The seafood pancake is crispy outside but mushy on the inside. I would prefer it to be more solid.

Been a few times and the soba is not bad. But for real, $15 for a half cup rice and 4 tiny slices of eel?? Definitely not coming back, the quality has gone way down

This is one of the good spots for cold Soba. And the price is reasonable. The vibe is cool feeling in Japan. Will come back to try their hot dishes in the cold season :)

4.5 / 5.0 - Soba Noodle Azuma is an excellent spot for a cold winter day, to warm up your body.
They have a wide variety of menu options and everything looked great, so it took me a bit of time to choose.

I walked in for lunch and ordered:
- Beef Sukiyaki ($12.50+)
- Rice ($3.50+)
- Oden Egg ($3+)
- Oden Daikon ($3+)

I enjoyed everything and the prices were reasonable for Japanese food in Manhattan.
The service was mixed, depending on the staff, but I had a good dining experience overall and would recommend this place for casual Japanese food in the city.

What a fantastic first experience with Soba in New York! Soba Noodle Azuma really hit the spot. We arrived around 5pm and were seated right away, which was a nice surprise. I opted for the beef soba with a medium portion of noodles (you can actually choose your noodle quantity!), and it was delicious. The fried octopus appetizer was a great starter, and the Yuzu Soda was the perfect refreshing complement to the meal. I can't wait to go back and bring my friends!

Feels very authentic and has a nice tight atmosphere that evokes what they are trying to. The food was good, great for a cold and rainy day, but not incredible.

Udon and Pork Cutlet Curry were unfortunately quite disappointing
Hopefully my thoughts will change after trying soba next time

Ordered the soba set meal
You can choose cold noodles or soup noodles. The soup noodle soup is very fresh and sweet.
It’s delicious with just a little green onion seasoning
The set menu includes fried shrimp and vegetable tempura
Fried and crispy, it tastes great with radish tempura sauce
Side dishes include sesame okra and tamagoyaki
Comes with a small stack of three salmon sashimi
The pickled radish on the side can be used to relieve fatigue
The other staple food is beef sukiyaki udon noodles
The onion and beef soup is very rich
But the udon itself was a bit overcooked and too soft.
It's a pity that the outer layer of the fried tofu in the appetizer is not crispy enough.
But the radish puree sauce is delicious
The tofu itself is very soft and tender
The overall store atmosphere is very warm
We won't feel crowded even if we sit at the bar

When the temperature drops in New York City, few meals are as comforting as a steaming bowl of udon. Soba Noodle Azuma offers exactly that, along with an authentic and satisfying Japanese dining experience.

During my visit, I opted for the dashi tofu appetizer and the shrimp tempura udon. The dashi tofu was a highlight—perfectly seasoned and cooked with precision, achieving an ideal texture that melted in the mouth. It was a simple yet elegant way to begin the meal.

The shrimp tempura udon delivered everything you’d hope for in a hearty winter dish. The broth was flavorful and soothing, complementing the thick, perfectly cooked udon noodles. The shrimp tempura, crisp and fresh, added a delightful contrast of texture without feeling heavy.

Beyond the food, Soba Noodle Azuma stands out for its affordability, offering exceptional quality at a price point that makes it accessible. It’s a restaurant I would confidently recommend to anyone craving authentic Japanese cuisine, whether they’re seeking warmth on a chilly day or simply a reliable, flavorful meal.
