Went in for a late dinner. Food is amazing, cocktails feel intentional and inspired. We walked in as a party of two but larger parties had to wait for a table (understandable for a Friday night).

Cozy Australian brunch and wine bar. The burrata and fig sourdough toast is def worth it - chewy and light with a crispy crust. The hotcake is a little bland on its own; I asked for the maple syrup on the side. The harissa eggs were good but on the thinner and slightly oily side. The flat white is strong and smooth. The seatings are very close together and the service is average.
Top tier service and great atmosphere. date night or girls night it's all good here!

I got the beef burger with bacon and it was genuinely the best burger i've had in ages. The staff here were all super friendly and helpful as well. When we arrived they made an effort to shuffle round a couple of tables and chairs to make room for our group of 3. The beers were also v good

First of all, the pancake is great. And it’s randomly gluten free!!! Such a win. It had lots of syrup, delicious berries on top. A little chewy and very soft. It’s great.
However… a) it was so so cold inside!! The cold from outside just leaked through the walls and I was freezing. b) we had an 11:30am reservation and weren’t seated until 12:15pm.

We reached Sonnyboy an hour before our reservation, it was packed, in what was the coldest snowiest day in the city! But there wasn't a table available. We came back an hour later and were seated in 10 mins.
The only reason to not give them 5 stars is it was super chilly inside. In freezing cold weather, you expect it to be warm inside. It wasn't just us, everyone was wearing their jackets, coats & beanies. The restaurant is super tiny with an open kitchen & cafe.
Food -
We got machiato & capuccino. It was special.
Burrata Fig toast - sounds pretty simple, was delicious. I would get an add on since this isn't enough for breakfast/brunch.
Ricotta hot cake - this was simply delicious, the cake was soft, well cooked, topped with mixed berry compote which was cold and a soft buttery cream and a syrup. It worked very well all together, wasn't too sweet and filling for one serving.
I would come back here but maybe during the summer!

This past Friday, I hosted a birthday dinner at Sonnyboy for a group of 12 and it ended up being the best place I could have chosen for a large party. I had emailed Jatin, the restaurant owner, in advance to organize the large party and he arranged 4 tables next to each other to accommodate the group. That was perfect because we were close enough to all talk, but not trapped at a long table without any ability to get out. Beyond the table, Jatin was incredibly responsive and helpful before the event and was so nice while we were there, making sure we were well taken care of the whole time. Plus he made this paan drink that was absolutely incredible. The service there was excellent in general and everyone was really sweet.
As for the food, we ordered all of the small plates to share before people moved on to entrées, and there genuinely wasn’t a miss. The Kung Pao cauliflower was my personal favorite. It was crispy, saucy, and that cravable sweet and sour flavor that you get from manchurian. Loved it. The tingly fried chicken lived up to its name: ultra-crispy, juicy, and layered with flavor from the Szechuan pepper, mustard green mayo, and lime that made it feel really bright. I also really loved the shrimp dish and the shishito peppers.
I’m gluten free and felt very well taken care of. There were lots of options and the servers and kitchen were really clear with me in terms of cross contamination. Meanwhile, the rest of the group, who are very much not gluten free, could not stop talking about the burrata and fig toast, the marinara meatballs, and several other dishes they ordered. We all left full and happy. I would recommend this to anyone whether you're just getting some friends together or having a larger party. Already thinking about going back here next year.
I added some photos, but we were having so much fun that these are a little blurry haha!

My best friend and I hosted our joint birthday party at Sonnyboy this past December and could not have had a better experience!
After another bar cancelled on us last minute, we had to scramble to find another place, and it ended up being a blessing in disguise because our Sonnyboy party was everything we hoped for and more.
Jatin and his staff went above and beyond in every way — we felt not just accommodated, but truly cared for. They even let us rename drinks on the menu to fit the theme of the party (their idea, not ours!) and printed custom menus for us, which were a HUGE hit. The service was excellent throughout the night and everyone had an amazing time.
If I could give Sonnyboy 6 stars, I would! Thank you again for everything, Jatin! 🤍

DELICIOUS! The food was absolutely amazing. The coffee - not so much :( but that was just me (and my European taste I guess) because my partner liked it. We missed our reservation so we sat at the bar, the waiter forgot a side dish we ordered and honestly we regretted ordering it either way so it was completely fine, he also forgot to give us utensils which again was fine as it didn’t take long for him to give them to us. Because of this, we were given a discount even though we really didn’t mind the two minor inconveniences and were happy with the food anyway. 10/10 would recommend :)

enjoyed a lovely sunday brunch here! arrived at 12, got seated in around 20-30 mins. my personal favorite was the ricotta hotcake – was super fluffy and perfect sweetness.
matcha was absolutely terrible though…. literally just tasted like milk😭💔 but other than that a delicious, cozy brunch spot
It’s not really a secret but Sonnyboy has a top 5 pancake in NYC. But like I said this is far from a hidden gem people know about this place and they normally have to wait to get in. I suggest taking a “sick day” from work on a Wednesday or Thursday and treat yourself. I also had the shakshuka which was great as well. The shoe string fries with the Sonnyboy seasoning are addictive. Lastly you can find a pretty good matcha latte and ice vanilla latte.

The food was good but the service was bad. the girl kept going on her phone, didnt check on us once. and when we asked her for napkins she forgot about it and then we had to ask someone else after not seeing it for 10 mins. we still tipped 20% but it is just disappointing as we love the food but every time we come here the service is horrible and rude.
