I came for the history of rhe tavern after a Christmas Eve service at Trinity. I had the French onion soup in mind from the reviews. When I arrived it wasn't on the menu which was mostly asian food, but I was assured they make it the same as the review photo. They did! I was glad. Otherwise J7 asian soup looked great. Still remnants of an old church lingering here and there such as the front chapel windows. A great spot on the coldest Christmas in 20 years.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn for 4 nights, but we didn't discover St. George until the 3rd morning. We went both the 3rd and 4th mornings for breakfast. It was amazing. Coming back from visiting Liberty Island, frozen with cold, we had the good idea to open the door of this very welcoming establishment. The decor is cozy and comfortable, the food is good quality and the service is impeccable. Very good experience!
