After contacting 4 different bakeries and getting little to no response on their custom cakes, I decided to reach out to Sugar Sketch for help. From the very beginning Martina was a gem. Super easy to work with and helpful w/ her recommendations. I feel so happy writing this review because the cake turned out AMAZING! The cake was so flavorful, moist, buttery and so much more :) Needless to say, it was gone within minutes-I mean GONE. The cake really brought out the theme, which for the record was a cactus themed baby shower. I definitely recommend this bakery and will happily be a returning customer!

I ordered a red velvet cake last year for my mother's birthday, and it was so delicious that I ordered again for my grandmother's 80th birthday. This time the flavors were chocolate for the top tier, and vanilla for the bottom tier. The guests kept raving about the cake. Not only was it delicious, but it was also beautiful! Martina is amazing!

I've been here a few times for cupcakes and my experience has been hit or miss. The frostings and toppings are their saving grace because the cake itself can be dry or the flavor is off. Their chocolate cake tasted bland. However, their custom cakes are visually stunning. I attended a work event featuring a Sugar Sketch cake and I was impressed.

This was the best cake experience I have ever had from start to finish! Martina understood what I was looking for and was super accommodating. My boyfriends 30th birthday cake cake out even better than I could've imagined. I always worry that cakes that look beautiful don't taste great, but was totally wrong here. We did a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting on the inside and it was delicious! Everyone kept telling me how delicious it was. I cannot thank Martina enough for creating the best cake for my boyfriends birthday celebration!

My brother and husband got a custom cake made from here for my birthday and wow, it was amazing! My brother sent them a photo of a cartoon character I like and the cake was a perfect depiction of the character. The taste was amazing too and we enjoyed it for a few days after. Highly recommend sugar sketch.

I ordered a beach theme sweet sixteen birthday cake for my daughters party and I can not say enough about it. Martina was super friendly and helpful when I was placing the order and when I picked it up. She was on point with every detail and the cake and icing were out of this world. Thank you Cake Sketch!!

I can't say enough about this bakery- but let me start by saying that Martina is seriously the nicest and most accommodating person I've ever met in the service industry. She did a last minute custom order for me and she put together this amazing mixed berry vanilla cake with almonds. So amazing- the butter cream was meringue and it was light and not too sweet- this cake... was. Wow. That dense type of cake that's more like an olive cake- it was truly spectacular and to have service like that in nyc... this place is truly a warm loving place that gives me all the feels. FYI - this review is solely based on my custom cake experience with Martina. This is an excellent establishment - amazing quality, quick service and reasonable prices. I had a perfect experience with Martina when I was ordering my custom cake, and when I mean perfect...I mean perfect. It was my first time ordering a custom cake and Martina was so kind and patient throughout the whole process, talking me through options and making recommendations to what she thought would be best for my needs even if the outcome was cheaper on her end. I was looking for a custom cake for my boyfriend's birthday and ordered the 8 inch cake, in the shape of a panda face (which I emailed her a few days prior). The cost was $75, a fantastic price for a custom cake in the city and I know this because I did the research!! I workshopped a custom flavor combo with her too - coconut frosting, chocolate cake and rasberry filling (I wanted to do something a little different). The outcome was amazing and I never received so many compliments on a cake. It was moist, flavorful and the texture on the frosting and filling was perfect. Martina executed everything flawlessly from the experience to the appearance to the flavor. I highly recommend this Grade A establishment and I wouldn't go anywhere else for my next custom cake. It was nothing short of perfect, perfect...(and another one for good measure) perfect :)
