Some of the freshest sushi I have had in New York. We had the sushi and sashimi omakase, and the uni and fatty tuna were particular standouts. We added a couple of pieces of chef's choice sushi at the end, and the King Crab was very good as well. We had the mochi ice cream; the daily flavors were green tea, lychee, and espresso. The espresso was very flavorful and I thought was the best of the three. The service was attentive and polite, and they addressed anything we asked for promptly. I would definitely go back!

The fish at this smallish Sushi place is very fresh-tasting, especially the salmon. Unlike many other Japanese restaurants, none of the main courses come with Miso soup, which has to be ordered a la carte. Service is correct and prompt, although everyone in our party of three had a hard time understanding the thickly accented English of our waitress and just nodded and ordered from the menu.

Went here for the 5th or 6th time tonite. You should get the Omakase. There are 3 variations on omakase so just pick one. Delicious. Creative sushi, great service, sake is a bit overpriced but it is NYC.

Even the omakase and dessert were really delicious. The atmosphere was similar to a regular Japanese restaurant, and the menu was prepared according to the speed of our meal. The variety of fish was good, and the decoration of all the sushi was beautiful. There were 12 pieces in total. A Thai person who greets you when you first enter? I liked that the female manager was friendly! When I left my coat, I kept it in a warm place so it was nice and cozy when I put it on before going out.

My brother and I are great sushi lovers. We have eaten at the most famous and most expensive sushi restaurants in Manhattan. Sushi of Gari46 has become our favorite. The variety, the creativity, the presentation of the sushi of this restaurant has no equal. The service is excellent. It is a wonderful experience for lovers of sushi.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi of Gari on 46th St, and it was, without a doubt, the best omakase experience of my life. The highlight of the evening was the incredible culinary artistry of the new Chef Chikara. His expertise and passion for sushi were evident in every dish he prepared, turning each course into a masterpiece of flavors and presentation.Manager Jenny's hospitality added to the exceptional experience. Her attention to detail and warm, welcoming demeanor made us feel like esteemed guests. The synergy between Jenny's management and Chef Chikara's culinary skills has brought Sushi of Gari back to its pinnacle of excellence. The restaurant's no nonsense professionalism, coupled with the impeccable service and extraordinary sushi (and Sake), made for an unforgettable evening. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and it just got so much better. I highly recommend Sushi of Gari to anyone looking for the epitome of an omakase experience in NYC. Thanks to Chef Chikara and Jenny, Sushi of Gari on 46th St has firmly established itself as a must-visit destination for sushi connoisseurs.Rating: 5 stars

What an absolute gem this place is! Came pre-show and had the best time. The food was all incredible (we ate lots of rolls). The staff were so attentive and friendly. Having overheard my friend wish me a happy birthday, unprovoked they brought me a delicious matcha ice cream desert with a candle and the whole place sang. It was so nice. Will always come back here! Thank you!!!

This place is top of the line Japanese restaurants in NYC I always feel good sitting and eating. They serve freshest sashimi, sushi & beautifully decorated foods. They also have a nice selection of Sake you don't easily find in local stores. Well professionally trained staffs are pleasant to be with. Not a big size restaurant, rather cozy.

We wanted to sit at the sushi bar but were told no, but no one else sat there. The food was just ok but brought out on platters not one by one which is sort of disappointing when it's so much $$. I've been a few times but this is my last

You're paying for some of the best sushi in the world and the overall experience is on par. It was pretty busy when we went this time which made it slightly hard to hear the servers. We had omakase again, and would definitely recommend it as a must-try at Gari, but other entrees are just as delicious and a better value if you've already had the omakase and you're just hungry for sushi.

Beware of a sushi restaurant that serves mediocre fish that they grind into mush which is used in ALL of the rolls and on top of some of the sashimi. I didn't have one piece of fish. BEWARE. And they aren't bashful about price.

The staff tried to be helpful, but they could not accommodate my dietary restrictions. Don't waste your time here, go to the one in Tribeca, they were incredibly accommodating and able to work with my specific needs.
