We had sushi there yesterday and it was truly an amazing experience. The chef was not only highly skilled and professional, but also very funny, which made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. The sushi and sashimi were incredibly fresh—honestly the freshest and best I’ve ever had. Every bite was full of clean, natural flavor. Highly recommend!

Definitely overpriced, especially now that tipping is back. You will spend $300 per person for dinner before drinks.
The fish is fresh, the service is attentive, but there’s nothing special about this place anymore. I think they haven’t updated the decor in over a decade.

Great food and service overall, but the experience ended on a disappointing note.
We came as a party of three and ordered the 15-course omakase along with drinks and appetizers. The food was excellent and the staff were attentive throughout most of the meal.
However, toward the end, things felt rushed. When we were ready to order dessert, we were asked to move from the bar to make room for the next reservation. I understand it was a busy Saturday dinner service, but our meal went just a little over two hours — which feels like a normal dining time for a full omakase experience.
We ended up moving to another area to finish our dessert, paid, and left shortly after. Unfortunately, the way the evening wrapped up left a negative impression, and I don’t think I’ll be returning

Excellent omakase at a reasonable price as far as NYC averages go. 15 pieces/$175. I prefer a place where the chefs are a little more outgoing and the atmosphere warmer (this is kind of stark modern), but I knew this going in. I wish the seat next to me at the counter hadn't been empty though. Makes a difference!

The restaurant demonstrated why people talk about it. Fast help delivered with a smile. The dishes are good, pricing is reasonable and service really impresses. This restaurant proves good food can be affordable. Much gratitude for the excellent help.

Had the omakase option. Everything was amazing! Honestly, we went to Japan not too long and we also had omakase at a one star there. But anyways, the whole experience and especially the food was as good as, if not maybe a tad better than the one we had in Japan. Crazy take but it was honestly amazing. The chef also really catered to our preferences which was enjoyable without the need to outright tell him what we want certain items like à la carte style.

This place is AMAZING.
They offer a large variety of sushi with fresh fishes from all over the world.
The staff knows Kosher, so for people who want to make sure they eat Kosher fish, the staff will be able to recommend a Kosher sushi selection.

TLDR: Visiting from LA. Beautiful, upscale sushi bar better suited for omakase or a proper sit-down. Toro and Spanish mackerel were excellent. Pricey for a quick bite.
We dropped a rental nearby and walked into Sushi Yasuda looking for some rolls. It’s really a reservation-leaning spot with a calm, minimalist counter setup, ideal for omakase at lunch or dinner. Staff was professional and kind; the manager felt a bit stressed, but our chef at the back counter was friendly and helpful.
We kept it simple with a few cut rolls and a couple of nigiri. The toro and Spanish mackerel were standouts clean flavor and perfect rice. Rolls were well made. For a light order, the bill was about $120 before tip, so expect premium pricing.
If you want a fast, casual sushi stop, there are easier options. If you want a refined counter experience with top fish, this is a strong choice.
Pro tips
• Book a counter seat for omakase to get the full value. That’s the chef’s specialty.
• Come at lunch if you want a calmer vibe.
• Expect premium prices even for a small order.

I’ve be going to Sushi Yasuda for over 20 years. It was at one point the best sushi restaurant in NYC. I went recently and I’m not sure what happened to this place — so disappointed. 😭

Unsure how the dining in experience here is booked the takeout was honestly nothing short of disgusting. Unsure how they claim this to be omakase. The uni was definitely rotten and the shrimp was the fishiest shrimp I’ve ever eaten. Unacceptable how this cost $200 when it really should have been $20.

Used to be great in Chef Mitsu era, with no tipping policy. Was my favorite restaurant in the city.
Now, just another ripoff spot. Omakase came out to over $300 per person and was nothing special, clearly optimized for the highest $ (abused our trust, basically).
Maybe worth going to for lunch special.
