I rarely write reviews, but this is to point out the above and beyond service provided by the employees behind the counter at Sweetbriar. They were very nice in the morning and had smiles on their faces. These acts go a long way and I truly enjoyed my breakfast thanks to them.

We live down the street and often stop in for a coffee or a drink, but we will divert to new spots going forward. My wife’s family was in town and we got a few drinks and bites in the bar area and then made our way to the dining room for dinner. As our food was arriving, I popped open my laptop for an urgent email and our waitress immediately came over and told us there were no laptops allowed in the dining room. I felt bad for her because we had seen the short brunette manager ask our waitress to come up to us and the waitress definitely felt bad, as I was clearly just trying to get something out quickly, I wasn’t leisurely scrolling on my laptop with 3 other people at the dinner table. There were only a few other tables occupied, and it’s a hotel restaurant, so I wouldn’t say I was disturbing the “ambience”, but I then had to leave the dining area to send my email. As I left, the manager (who had sent over the waitress) came over and meekly asked “all okay?” instead of just addressing the issue. I totally understand if this is a policy of the restaurant but she showed such poor management skills in forcing the waitress to send her message and jeopardizing her tip instead of addressing herself, and then spent the rest of the time sending new people over to our table to clear, etc. while she chatted with staff because she didn’t have the courage to address us directly. I boxed my meal and took it home but, based on how it was handled, we won’t pop in for drinks anymore and my in-laws likely won’t be staying at the Hyatt anymore.

Went with a group of 7. Had to wait for whole party to arrive.Ambiance was so choice, could actually hear ourselves talking to one another unlike most nyc restaurants with a group.Food was fantastic. Had the cornbread, beets and shishito peppers

Outstanding meal!! A real hidden gem. This was my second visit and everything we had was fantastic. The broccoli appetizer is a must have. The hangar steak was perfectly cooked, the clams and cavatelli were superb. We had the croissant bread pudding for dessert that was mind blowing. Service was very attentive without hovering. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

I used to love the restaurant that was there before and was hoping Sweetbriar would be similar but it's not, which makes me very disappointed. Service was awful, consistent with Yelp reviews, and I didn't enjoy the food. We made reservations and wasn't seated until an almost a half hour after. While waiting, they told us we could have a drink at the bar in the front. We were the only people at the bar and no one acknowledged or even looked at us. After being seated, no one came to the table for 20 minutes. We didn't even get water until about 40 min in. The waiter/waitress barely checked on us. It was Valentine's Day and they had a pre-fix and they forgot to give us one of the dishes. Very disappointed that I won't be coming back.

Great food in a calm and chic atmosphere. And Liz and the other staff were all very friendly!

Great decor and vibe. Food and match the atmosphere.

On our third or fourth visit to Sweetbriar we thought the food was as tasty as ever and the restaurant week value was excellent. However we were surprised at how sedate the atmosphere was in comparison with our last visits. Perhaps the NFL championship games had something to do with the fact that there were simply not many diners. Hopefully that was a blip as our past visits were lively and energetic.

Everything was absouletly amazing. Frankie and Dennis both came over to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and to check that the food was hitting the spot. Firstly, Liz, our waitress was lovely, efficient and had great recs that we were smart to listen to. We ate almost everything on the menu and were beyond thrilled by everything. The highlight of our meal had to be our dessert. Inside was baked croissant bread topped with a salted caramel ice cream... just wow. Will go back and recommend everyone add this to their restaurant bucket list.

My experience didn't start off too good but overall the evening was great. I was 15 minutes early and the Restaurant was closed. I saw two people from the window and they disappeared when they saw us. We had to wait in the cold until the restaurant opens. I figure if I have a reservation for 5:00 PM and I am 15 minutes early, at least the bar should be open.

Pleasant welcome, staffs are very quick in response, grilled Branzino is SO GOOD! Fish is extremely fresh, smooth texture, skin is crispy The kimchee over the Bak Choi adds kicks to it, love the crunchy veg in the KimChee. Reasonable waiting time for food to be served. I was fussy with the ingredients of the salad, I got exactly what I want. Warm ambience, but I guess hard wood floor, with no rush and no table cloth Weill not be able to absorb noise. Love to come again.

Service was okay, and the food was not great. Restaurant was surprisingly empty for Saturday at 6:30 PM, but the food took a while to come out.We ordered a cocktail, cornbread with honey butter, mushroom pizza, and the sweetbriar burger.- Cocktail was non memorable- The honey butter that came with the cornbread was the star of the show.- The burger was fine albeit messy -- my assumption is that the burger was assembled when the patty was still too hot because the sauce was loose and runny. If this is the normal, I would have appreciated extra napkins as a precaution.- The pizza was served to us raw. Even looking back at the photo, I don't know how it left the kitchen. This was the moment our hearts sank, and we asked the server to take it back. Our server was really apologetic when they realized that the pizza was still in fact raw. The manager came by to also apologize and ensure that it would be taken off the tab. When asked about everything else, I gave her my honest feedback about the burger, and she was defensive. The only thing they did to fix the night was offer to comp the raw pizza that we couldn't eat, and that's as far as the apology went.I tried to contact them the next day after I processed the situation, and we were left on read.

Excellent! Steak was perfect - red and juicy as requested. Broccolini was very good. Wine list impressive. Wine by the glass very good One of the great NY restaurants I've been too. Strongly recommended

How to you rate the amazing? I don’t much do reviews, despite looking at many others. Have traveled extensively over last 30 years. This was however a special experience. Beef can be overcooked in the USA. This was done to perfection. Rare was red and juicy and warm The wine was a really great Malbec blend by the glass, the wine list was impressive. I have been travelling for 2 weeks in the USA having dinner in. shall I say, the established NY restaurants. This was by far my best dinner/meal. I will be back

Booked a special meal for New Year's Eve Food was of good quality , exciting and innovative. How ever let down by the service being incredibly rushed . Whilst eating our starters we were asked 4 times if waiting team could clear whilst still eating . Then our main courses were placed on the table when still eating starters . I asked team to slow down service They then removed the mains but not the sides and left them on the kitchen pass , which we could see until we were ready, then returned same plates which meant the lovely food was cold such a shame and the sides were by the time we ate our mains freezing cold. Also despite reminding team not all our sides had been served we never received our entire order Manager tried to make amends and offer discount and a small refund but we just wanted to have hot good food ! Such a shame It wasn't busy either with 14 people total in the restaurant.
