Like so many of the other 1-star reviews, I will have to mention the outrageous fat content in the broth. I literally felt nauseous minutes after finishing the bowl. Never again, unfortunately.

Be honest, food is tasteless and lack of salt. Tuna don bury disappointed me, rice and fish were without any taste. I didn’t joy food at all, just filled my stomach. Rumen was boring as well.

The ramen broth is just too thick. The chashu pork didn’t really have much flavor. The kaarage chicken was okay. The service was good. There’s just much better ramen in the city.

A friend has been wanting to go here for years but never came to it. After trying out a walk-in around 4:50, I was able to make it to the bar. Let me start with saying I had very high expectations. I love ramen, and this place wasn’t it. Beforehand I did read a lot of reviews that say they overflow it with beansprouts. So I obviously asked without. The ramen was half the size lol but the broth itself was just too salty for me. I ended up taking half of it to go & I will say it was better the next day. By the time I left (5:30) there was a line waiting, but it wasn’t for me. The staff was friendly and nice, but can’t say I’d come back here.

So disappointing, seriously :( The ramen broth was way too fatty, salty, and with too much garlic. The chashu pork was flavorless and letting it soak/dip in the salty broth did not help. The appetizers such as the Chicken Karaage and Gyoza dumplings were the only good tasting food, and realistically it’s okay. Service was good.

Tonkotsu ramen is bland and the broth is awful: just too much fat and garlic to hide the lack of flavor.

The food was good. I personally got the vegetarian tsukamen, and the broth was a little too salty for my taste… I could not finish it.
The vegetables tempura was only 4 pieces… a bit too expensive for $9.
The servers are friendly.
The ambience is cozy, but they should really add a second door outside to shield patrons who are sitting at the counter from blast of cold air.

# Overall:
Tabetomo is one of the names that come up often when looking for tsukemen in NYC. The tsukemen didn't really hit it out of the park for me, but that's alright. There's much more depth to the menu that can be considered.
# Ambiance
Tabetomo's interior design mimics that of a regular Japanese ramen bar, providing a similar experience whether eating at the countertop or more tucked away in the booth.

Tonkotsu Tsukemen
Even for tsukemen, the dipping broth was a bit on the salty side. The ramen noodles were served just a bit undercooked, which is normally good, but the dipping broth didn't really "finish the cooking" process for me. The broth also was not as thick as I would like, definitely very soy sauce forward.

The ramen is either you hate it or love it. Jiro-style is known for high fat and salt. Thick noodles bring all the broth. Just FYI, pay tips in cash. I paid tips on the POS and the server claimed I did not leave tips. I left tips in cash and now my card charged me tips as well. Idk if the server is lying to get double tips from me.

Restaurantji Recommends
I have tried a lot of ramen/tsukumen spots around the east coast, but I sadly don’t have much to say about Tabetomo.
I appreciate the vibe they’re going for with their restaurant, but the tsukumen itself is not very good. The broth is lukewarm and the noodles are store bought which isn’t a dealbreaker, but they are not as slippery as I would like.
I don’t think you should have to request a hot rock in your soup to warm it up. It should be steaming as soon as it’s set down.
I thought they might have improved after their renovations, but no dice.

I only got the Ramen. It was rich. Too rich for my test in fact. I would opt for some place else if you want a more typical ramen flavor
The server helped me choose a good sake which I really appreciate.
Good place, but ramen might not be for everyone

The noodles were a really good texture but the broth was not my favorite.
It has more of a soy sauce/vinegar-y flavor but I prefer more thick tsukumen broths.
Atmosphere was nice and service was good though. Went around 6PM on a Thursday night and barely waited for a table for 2.

**Stay AWAY, terrible food poisoning**
My mother had heard great things about this restaurant and decided to bring a large party of 8 people to eat dinner. As soon as we walked in, the floor was so greasy to the point of being slippery. The water was very dirty, and the menus were filthy. The ramen was horrible and completely oily. The pork broth was definitely contaminated because I have never had such terrible food poisoning.

Very good, but four stars because you need 12 hours of recovery from 60-hour broth
