Solid spot for Mexican food in the UES. Very spacious restaurant and lots of seating options. We got the beef empanadas (more like pulled pork/beef versus ground beef) and then I got the al pastor tacos which were very good, for 3 for $15. I think the menu could use some more organization for the drinks and the main food items. Otherwise, good experience.
My first and only experience with this place has me hesitant to return. The staff seemed confused by the menu as what I ordered in no way resembled what I got. And even though they offered no lunch specials, I wanted to give this place a try. The food was good, however expensive, $22 for an entree that comprised of a thinly sliced porkchop, rice and beans, a blistered jalepeno and charred onion. My girlfriend and I stopped by Taco Zone for brunch on a Sunday after wanting to try it for some time and were impressed! I got the taco zone omelette and she got tacos. Both were delicious and we enjoyed our drinks. They have a large menu and many things looked good. Our server was kind and attentive but there was a bit of a language barrier. We'll definitely be back!
