NYC is a tough town for restaurant owners… every seat is important. However, the beloved camper bus is missing…! And, I hear it may not ever be back! It was a gut-punch. To come all the way from LA… work all day and look forward to such a private oasis of good drinks and food, only to find a glorified dining hall without any character. The soul of the place is missing. Please, bring the camper bus back. I hear it was taken away to get cleaned… that rings of a Grinch excuse. Bah humbug to the owners wherever they may be… when will it be coming back to its rightful habitat?
I've always been a fan of Tacombi, but lately, the food quality seems to have declined. I ordered the ribeye special tacos, and unfortunately, the meat was overcooked, dry, and overly greasy. The flour tortillas, which used to be delicious, now taste more like store-bought ones, maybe the recipe has changed, but not as good as they used to be. While the service was as friendly and attentive as always, even the trompo-pastor meat was a bit dry this time.
I don’t give 5 stars often to restaurants, but dang this was phenomenal. Service was so kind, fast, and delicious.
I had the Baja Crispy Fish and it was delicious. It’s cod with mayo, cabbage and pico de gallo. Orange soda was also great. I ordered 4 tacos for $30.
The staff is also super friendly and quick. I’ll be back
This restaurant may have had the funnest vibe and aesthetic out of all the restaurants we went to. You feel like you are in a street alley in Mexico, as vetted by my Mexican friend. However, the good things somewhat stop there. The food was definitely delicious but for the price and portion I was surprised. My burrito with ribeye from the famous Pat LaFrieda meat purveyors was maybe 5% meat and 90% potato. For the price I’d definitely hope for more. Regardless the vibes of the place were really cool, I just wish the price for the food was more justified.
The food was absolutely delicious, full of great flavor. I ordered the 'very spicy' quesadillas, but unfortunately they weren’t spicy at all. The interior is original and nicely designed, although I missed some Latin music to match the atmosphere—instead, they were playing American tunes. Overall, a good place to eat and enjoy a meal.
30 minutes to wait for two tacos to go - mind you they make you tip cause how do you by pass when they’re staring at you hard body.
They also don’t seem to care to upset their customers.
Won’t be wasting my money over here anymore.
These are some dreadful tacos. The corn tortillas are stiff and dry. The pastor tacos are dry and tasteless. The fish tacos are dry and boring even with a dollop of mayo. The chips are dry and stale. The limes that accompany the dishes are, you guessed it, dry and you have to squeeze them so hard to get a paltry few drops of lime. Are you sensing a theme?
I guess the esquites was rather tasty and the table salsas are good. But that just isn't enough for Mexican food in the heart of Manhattan.
I also didn't really enjoy the "garage" aesthetic or the low-to-the-ground chairs that gave me mummy legs when I stood up. The service was adequate even though they couldn't keep checks separate.

The tacos were decent, though not extraordinary. However, the atmosphere and setting were delightful. I arrived with a reservation, but there was a mix-up on their end, and they couldn’t initially locate it. Fortunately, the staff handled the situation well and were able to accommodate us quickly. Overall, the service was attentive and friendly.

Very rarely do I feel like I was scammed into wasting my money. But Tacombi really said “hold my beer,” then put a crap ton of water in the alcohol rendering it just as flavourless as its food. Run! Don’t walk! To literally anywhere else ..

Went to try the Michelin star collaboration they had and it disappointed. It was pretty bare bones so I was expecting massive flavor from the meat which wasn't there. It basically just comes with a the meat and the tortilla. They were also cooked unevenly, with my friend getting 2 tacos nearly burnt out (meat was dry af). I will say one of the tacos was pretty good and juicy but expected more from this collab.

I feel scammed. There was a collaboration with a “Michelin “ star restaurant from Mexico City so I ordered the special item on the menu. What came were thinly sliced meats on a taco with NOTHING else in it. It did not even taste good. Felt like something you can pull out of a box in the frozen aisle and heat up. Is this some kind of joke or social experiment. Never trust any influencers again.
LMAO SCAMMERS!!. Did they claim it’s Michelin star taco?! They should refund me. It’s one SMALL pics of DRYYY meat with dry corn wrap. Charging $7 for ONE TACO, a pic of beef meat and bread. Hard to chew and tasteless. Worst restaurant in nyc and I live in the city. They did not provide sauce unless you ask. lol

I wish I could give zero stars. A rat ran under our table while we were eating, we still had to pay full price. Service was HORRIBLE! By the time I got pico de gallo my taco was cold. Taco was already mid AF. Horchata tastes like water. Will NEVER COME BACK HERE!!!! Instead, go to the St. Marks Taqueria, the food is amazing and they’re rat free. This was a massive fail.
