The food here tastes greatâwell-seasoned and thoughtfully preparedâbut the portion size left me a bit surprised. Even the rice, which is usually a generous base in most meals. Service was polite and the environment was comfortable, but for the price, I expected a bit more substance on the plate.

Ordered green curry and spring rolls. The spring rolls were a bit oily but really delicious. The green curry was good as well. The locatiin is not that approachable as you have to go to second floor tgrough narrow stairs but the atmosphere there was good. I reached at 930PM nad they were almoat stopping taking new orders since they close at 10pm so be mindful of timing. That entire lane is full of Thai restaurants so will try others as well so provide compariaon but overall good Thai food and some good vegeterian options. Hard to find vegeterian food in Manhattan otherwise

Hidden Gem for Thai Food in NYC â Tam Mai
This restaurant is tucked away up a tiny, unassuming staircase, but the moment you step inside, youâre transported straight to Thailand. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the menu is packed with delicious options. Portions are generous, and the prices are very fairâespecially the $15 lunch deal, which is an absolute steal.
This has quickly become one of my favorite local spots. It feels like a true neighborhood secret, with hardly any tourists around.
My go-to dishes are the green curry and pad see ew, both with tofu. Theyâre packed with flavor and always satisfying. I highly recommend them!
The staff is incredibly kind and attentive (shout out to our server Tom!!), making the whole experience even better. If youâre looking for great Thai food in New York, I definitely recommend Tam Mai.

The food was amazing! The taste of the wings, fresh! We ordered the drunken noodles and the pad sew eiw; both yummy, and the rosella drink refreshing

We had Tomyum Soup and salad and one more soup like Red curry with duck. The duck is pretty good and I like the Salad very much.

If youâre near 56th Street, definitely check out Tam Mai Thai! Itâs a bit tucked away upstairs but absolutely worth the find. The food was so fresh and flavorful, we got the Pad See Ew and a bunch of other dishes, and everything was delicious with really generous portions. The service was also super friendly and quick. It felt like a nice little escape from the city noise to just relax and enjoy some great Thai food. Will definitely be back, and itâs also a solid option for takeout or delivery!
