RAY WAS THE BEST!! He was training under Max, and they both were absolutely incredible. Every need and expectation was met and they couldn't have done a better job. They were super attentive and made sure all of our drinks were constantly filled and that our needs were met. We had an allergy at the table, and they were very knowledgeable and took it very serious, which we truly appreciated. They made our experience very relaxing and perfect!
The patio and setting were beautiful. Our service was not even average. Our appetizers came out prior to us even receiving our first drink. We ordered the maple bacon and I asked for it to come crispy. It came out raw and rubbery. We sent it back. The waiter didn't even question it. Our food was fine. The biscuits and gravy were delightful and the French toast was lovely. We only had one drink as the waiter never came back to even check on our order. I wouldn't go there again. Many places to visit in NYC for food and better service.
Overpriced for the quality of food but your in the middle of central park so to be expected. Outside seating on a nice day is very pleasant if you want to relax.
This restaurant is only there because it's in the park. Street vendors have better food. No fresh juices and my eggs Benedict was served with old English muffins that were rock hard. Please note I seldomly complain about food quality on these reviews. I really mean the food wasn't good.
Lovely appetizers and dinner. Excellent atmosphere. Was able to relax and enjoy. Felt a world away from the hustle and bustle. Would definitely recommend!
Always a lovely dining experience. Fantastic food served by a wonderful staff. Highly recommend.
Beautiful dining room with wonderful outdoor views Excellent service I remember Tavern on the green in the 60's when I went to friends sweet sixteen parties. It was wonderful then but even better now Get dressed and enjoy
I was with a party of 8, celebrating our 50th anniversary. Service was excellent--very patient waiter! I had the Scottish salmon which was very tasty; my husband had the scallops which he aso liked. A surprise anniversary cake with ice cream--that was very thoughtful. Only drawback was the noise level was pretty deafening, but it's a popular place, so what can you do? Will be coming back next month with a party of32--50th Anniversary, part 2!
Beyond expectations, which were high to begin with. The most welcoming and warm staff, very attentive and in perpetual motion. We were here celebrating our 40th anniversary, and they rolled out the red carpet, so to speak. They make you feel like a VIP. The food is perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. My husband said his short ribs were the best he'd ever had. My scallops over veggie paella were cooked just right (always tricky with seafood). Since we had pre-gamed with Prosecco, I can't speak to the cocktails. Ended with a lemon creme brulee - so light and creamy dreamy delicious with its lemon zing. And finally, the setting. How gorgeous - a light-filled atrium/conservatory nestled in the park, just magical. Can't wait to return. And what a nice surprise to be sent home with rich chocolate truffles and an anniversary card. Perfection at every turn.
My 7 year old nephew broke his tooth on first bite on a chicken he ordered from the kids menu. The chicken turned out to be very hard.

My friend and I absolutely loved our brunch at Tavern on the green, totally classy and a fun Sunday brunch with music
Historic, picturesque location, but quite noisy. A bit of sound absorption paneling would help a lot.
It's what you'd expect, an iconic local landmark that serves good quality food, albeit at a price that is commensurate with location
We have celebrated family Birthday dinner in this restaurant. The place is really cool. Service and food quality are excellent. Dinning outside in the garden gives you extra unforgettable moments. Especially in the evening the place is really climatic. I recommend this place to Everyone visitting NYC.
We arrived to our 6pm reservation about 15 minutes early. We did not expect to be seated, but there was availability which was a nice surprise. The hostess greeted us very professionally and the other hostess guided us to our table while chatting with my 10 year old. Everyone was very friendly. We were seated at a table that had two chairs along a booth running the length of the wall. The tables were less than a foot apart. In order to sit down even the child in our party had to shimmy to her seat. I looked around the restaurant, thinking maybe our tables were the anomaly; they were not. Everyone was squished in. I could hear the entire conversation of the diners next to us. This took away from the ambiance as I'm there with my party, not others. We're used to dining at restaurants that are more geared toward a private experience, not that of being squished like sardines. The food was enjoyable. Our appetizer was fig, goat cheese and arugula with cured salami. I highly recommend this to share. Our entrees were also very well prepared - short ribs and ribeye. We were a bit limited due to food allergies in our party, so we didn't get to explore much of the menu. However, all the options were intriguing. Based on the quality of our dishes, I can only assume the others would be equally tasty. Overall, I would recommend the restaurant as it is a New York institution (though I do miss the ambiance of the original that has since been torn down).
