We stumbled upon this cozy spot near our hotel and had an early dinner. The place was quiet at first, perfect for conversation, but it filled up quickly by the time we left.
Service was prompt and friendly. I enjoyed their Platinum Sake, while my boyfriend tried the Japanese IPA—both excellent choices.
For starters, we had pork gyoza, edamame, and uni croquette. Each dish was comforting and satisfying. For mains, I went with the veggie curry rice from their specials—light, flavorful, and perfectly spicy. My boyfriend had udon soup with shrimp and egg, adding a bit of chili oil for an extra kick.
This was one of the best meals we’ve had in NYC, and the prices were incredibly reasonable for such high-quality food. It brought back fond memories of Japan.

Did not particularly care for the food here. Ordered assorted tempura and kitsune udon. The tempura just tasted off. Something about the batter maybe. The broth for the kitsune was also pretty bland and the tofu was really sweet. Was disappointed given how highly rated it is.

I ordered the ebi ten udon with a side of kimchi. The ebi tempura was perfectly deep-fried, and I enjoyed the kimchi as well. The udon noodles were pleasantly chewy, making me want to take another bite right away, but that was about it. The soup was clear but not particularly moreish. I had some expectations because of the high ratings, but my experience didn’t quite live up to them.

I ordered pork gyoza and ebi nikku udon with shrimp and beef. The gyoza was delicious, and the udon noodles, pork, and shrimp tempura (they were served on a separate plate and were very crispy, which exceeded my expectations) and the toppings were all good, but the broth was a bit sparse. It felt bland. It's not just that I ate it salty, so it didn't taste bland, but it tasted a bit empty, like it was watered down. The staff provided some red pepper powder, so I sprinkled a lot of red pepper powder on it and ate it. Even though I sprinkled red pepper powder on it, it tasted like it was empty the whole time I was eating it, so I was a little disappointed, but I have no regrets. It tastes good enough, and I want to try other menu items with beer. I think the staff is friendly and the service and atmosphere are good.
