French bread is great! Pancakes average. Boss and the guy waiter is lovely but the women was rolling her eyes at other tables, ignored me a few times on purpose, just overall pretty grumpy attitude.

Based on positive reviews, went for 11a weekday breakfast with husband and sister. Place empty. Ordered eggs grits multigrain toast, sister eggs sausage toast, husband avocado toast with poached egg. Everything arrived lukewarm-cold. Grits a cold mushy tasteless globby mess. AWFUL.Toast cold lightly toasted chewy. AWFUL. Scrambled eggs only thing edible. Overpriced avocado toast a thin layer of mashed avocado and white ball poached egg plopped atop. Sister stomach upset queasy after her meal. Table was sticky, my husband moistened a napkin and wiped table, it was absolutely filthy dirty. So disgusting my sister gagged in horror. Told staff member food was cold - he said nothing, told waitress, no apology or concern. Staff very lackluster unfriendly inattentive. Place needs a deep thorough clean. Must ask for water which is BOTTLED Poland Spring water. What's that all about? Tap water undrinkable? Single use plastic waste! Mánager sat at counter messing with cellphone totally unconcerned or involved with business-customer service. Will never return. Do not recommend.

We were looking for a diner-type restaurant for breakfast, and happened to find the Comfort Diner. We loved it and ended up having breakfast every day during our week in NY. We loved the atmosphere, the staff was very friendly and we couldn't stop eating buttermilk pancakes, waffles...

I loved mom and pop atmosphere of this diner. It was second time visiting this diner on my nyc visit. They always have quite a crowd for breakfast. And the food is really good and good portion sizes. The staff is friendly and attentive.

The Eggs San Marcos is a delightful salmon & scallion omelette. The home fries are tasty also. Minor points off for toast that wasn't pre-buttered, the sticky subterranean restrooms, & for not having ketchup at the table.

Dare I say above average burger for a dinner. Better than expected bun and patty seems like it wasn’t frozen. Fries are diner fries to a T.

A typical American place, decor like in the 60s. I dreamed of a place like that at least once during my stay in New York and I was really not disappointed. Nice and hearty cuisine, pleasant service, atmosphere far from the tourist factories. A great address.

Come ready to eat. I had a great breakfast at the Comfort Diner this morning. I appreciate the staff's kindness. My coffee was good, fresh and hot. They provided bottled water. I ordered the flannel hash (side) because it had sweet potato and beets and bacon. There was a misunderstanding, and I got the order with corned beef. But, the corned beef was absolutely delicious. It turned out to be a pleasant issue, in my favor ??.
My husband ordered the All American with turkey bacon. He ate it all. His eggs were perfectly cooked.
It was a nice morning and a good way to start the day. Good prices. Good service.
Lastly, I sat at the counter. The gentleman working the grill had an impressive rhythm with getting food out. It made me anticipate my food even more. I think I saw him prepare like 100 pancakes. It was impressive.
