Very special place to celebrate a family friends birthday! The vibe was great albeit very noisy so be prepared. We ordered the oysters as an appetiser and they were very fresh complete with ice, lemon, and three sauces. The food took a very long time to arrive, around 45 minutes because it was busy but that was the main issue, and my fingerling potatoes didn’t come with the main course even though I ordered them , so we had to request them. Also for some reason the waiters were very hard to understand.
The linguini and clams pasta dish was very rich, with it and the sauce having the right texture. The sauce can usually be too salty or sour or too rich but in this case it was perfect. It could be drinken as a broth that’s how good it was. The pasta was also very good. The halibut and branzino were also very tender and rich. The potatoes also were surprisingly crispy with a chimmichurri like sauce. Very relevant.
After our meal the waiter surprised us with a complimentary mouse because my side dish was very very delayed which bought this review from 4-5 stars. And a fish fortune teller which was cool. Highly recommend this place for any event, as long as you are patient and can handle loud noise.

Mermaid Inn has long been a favorite restaurant and the Chelsea location has quickly become a family favorite we visit every week or so.
The host is consistently warm and welcoming and manages the front of house with skill and grace. When we have a reservation we are almost always immediately shown to a table (including times when we've arrived ahead of our reservation time).
The service has always been friendly and quick (but never hurried). Items from the kids' menu come out fast and first which makes for a more enjoyable dining experience for all. (An actual kids' menu is a bit of a rarity these days - it's much appreciated).
Their happy hour features a variety of items at great prices but the food is delicious and a great value outside of happy hour. We have tried most things on the menu but always come back to the fish tacos (option for blackened or fried) and the side of the corn. They have a nice variety of oysters and non-seafood items so there is something for everyone.
Recommended dishes: Fries, Mermaid Fish Tacos, Shishito Peppers

Oysters were on the small side and the food is good but not fantastic given the prices and the number of choices in Manhattan The Atmosphere is dated and while mermaid inn has been around a long time it definitely needs to up it's game Service is excellent 👌
The restaurant is very nice. I love the decor. The staff could not have been more friendly. Everyone said hello and greeted you. Our guy was Logan. He is a true professional and his field. You could not ask for a better person. All of the food was wonderful. We went for the happy hour. The mini clam chowder. That was some of the best clam chowder I’ve ever had. We also had the tart. Everything was wonderful. Very nice atmosphere. also, Logan gave us a free mini dessert at the end. They also give you these little plastic sleeves that has your fortune in it. You will just have to check it out. I really do like this place. Pretty cool.
