Mermaid Inn has long been a favorite restaurant and the Chelsea location has quickly become a family favorite we visit every week or so.
The host is consistently warm and welcoming and manages the front of house with skill and grace. When we have a reservation we are almost always immediately shown to a table (including times when we've arrived ahead of our reservation time).
The service has always been friendly and quick (but never hurried)....

Oysters were on the small side and the food is good but not fantastic given the prices and the number of choices in Manhattan
The Atmosphere is dated and while mermaid inn has been around a long time it definitely needs to up it's game
