This place is great. Decor is next level, coffee is good. Almond croissant is a must try. The only thing is they don't have wifi. But that's part of their mystique. Their long table, and huge library of books encourages deep thought, conversations, or just quiet murmurings while sipping on their drinks. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating as well.

I will say from the street view and the interior decor this place gets a solid 10 out of 10. I can see meeting up with friends reading a book, and grabbing a bite to go. I would not suggest the arepas. Even if they say they have a chef I would be weary. If you want arepas made authentically please buy from a Spanish or Latin restaurant. If you want coffee and snack to go than this is the place for you. I enjoyed the coffee , but was disappointed with arepas which were priced well above the average cost of a good one from elsewhere.

UPDATE 10/1/2025: They changed their matcha recently. In my humble opinion, the old one was better. I will still come to Monkey Cup but maybe less often.
Monkey Cup is such a nice spot! The baristas are always great and super friendly, you can really tell they care about their regulars as much as they do new customers. I consider myself a regular, and it always feels welcoming.
I’m a big matcha guy, and theirs is honestly one of the best in the city, definitely one of my personal favorites. The only downside lately is that it hasn’t always been available these past couple of months (probably due to the matcha shortage), which is a bit of a bummer. Still, whenever they do have it, it’s amazing.
Another highlight here are the arepas, they’re really good and absolutely worth trying if you stop by.
Overall, Monkey Cup is a great café with good vibes, fantastic drinks, and delicious food. Highly recommend checking it out!

Anastasia was the one who took my order, she was so rude and off putting, that I asked her name for this review. It was my first visit so naturally I’m asking about their flavors and food choices, she was VISIBLY ANNOYED & started to speak to me condescendingly. I receive my coffee and and I ask if they have the open tops, the woman with the curly hair say “WHAT?!”. I ask again, she says no. I let her know “excuse me” is a much softer way to get someone to repeat themselves. She was also visibly annoyed. I leave immediately upon receiving my coffee it’s bitter. Like the coffee is bitter, the oat milk I’m sure was not air. And the caramel? Idk non existent. I take a few more sips and decide between the service and coffee I’m going to return it. I go back to return it the curly hair woman asks why I say simply”it was terrible”. She asks if I want it remade I say no. Anastasia then comes over and asks what’s going on (she did not make the coffee) and I say, based on your service and this coffee I’m getting a refund. She shrugs her shoulders. I say “yeah it’s clear you don’t care” and she says no I don’t… what was the point of her addressing me when I was already being helped?! To give more attitude. The whole place is like something out of a bad teenage sitcom. You’re a barista, not Regina George. Touch grass

Very cute and cozy cafe. Barista was nice. Caramel Latte was tasty with the right amount of sweetness. No wifi which I understand, but still find inconvenient. When I searched cafes near me with wifi this cafe popped up, not sure why it did. Full disclosure, they do have a sign saying no wifi, right by the register area, however I did not see it until the barista pointed it out after I asked for the wifi password. My fault for just going with what Google search said instead if asking first. Luckily they don't have a no-laptop policy so I was still able to use my laptop (and my cellphone hotspot), and saw several others with their laptops out too.
No wifi so you have to read a book or make a friend.

As a Venezuelan/Colombian they make Venezuelan arepas. YUMMMMMM. What an amazing surprise. Literally run here. Great place to stay and have coffee.
