We've been to the Odeon many times and have always loved it. This time we told the staff we had theater tickets and asked them to be aware. Our food took forever and one of our orders arrived almost cold.
For forty years, one of New York's most reliably glorious dining experiences. Great food and meticulous warm service.
A New York institution still at the top of its game. A lively environment and extensive menu. The staff could not have been nicer and the service was impeccable.
This restaurant has remarkable ned largely unchanged since it opened in the 1980s, Love it!!! Good service and clientele all fabulous.
Our server never once checked on us over a 90-minute period. I've never seen anything like this in the US. I had to shout as he passed just to order anything. The food was fantastic, at least. Croque Monsieur and French onion dip I highly recommend.
Have been here dozens of times since I was kid. It's still as fun, buzzy & reliable. Usually walk in and sit at the bar for dinner, so it was nice to plan this in advance and introduce this local gem to some of my other friends. Will continue coming back for years to come.
Casey, at the front desk, was terrific. I had made a reservation about 2 weeks before for 6:30 last night. I had to call her at 6 to say traffic on the WSH was horrendous and we would be about 20 minutes late. She said come ahead. We arrived about 20 minutes late. Casey welcomed us warmly and seated us 25 minutes later and explained that she wanted a better table for us as it was our anniversary . We had a great table in the middle of the action. Our waitress was friendly, efficient, with a sense of humor. Ford, great! Thanks ODEON for a lovely anniversary evening!
Food and service ate decent but the rush to get you out the door after 90 minutes is a bit too gauche.

It’s been a while since I have been to The Odeon. I remember the food as more refined in the past. Not sure what’s happening in the kitchen, but the frisée salad I used to love so much was drowned in its dressing and limp, and overly salty. Generally everything seemed a little heavy handed in its execution and tended toward the just okay. An $84 bottle of wine was forgettable. Ambiance is still fun, elegant and upbeat and I’m glad The Odeon has survived for so long. But given the prices they charge now, I would have wished for the quality to be higher.

Great experience at The Odeon. Why have I never been here in all my trips to NYC over the decades? Keith McNally's memoir inspired this reservation. It was very cool to have so much inside information about the history of this establishment, the thought that went into every element of the place and food, and to think about all of the people who have passed through its doors. I got to thinking about my college days as a waitress, and what it would have been like to be part of the early staff. Anyway, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was lively and fun, the lighting was perfect, and it was appreciated by my colleagues for whom I had made the restaurant choice, and who had no idea about the history - they just enjoyed their burgers and onion soup! I will definitely be back, a new favorite.
We have been to the Odean and also its sister Cafe Luxembourg for brunch. They are basically exactly the same. This is not a criticism we loved them both.
Staple NY restaurant. Packed at 10pm on a Thursday. Steak au poivre is amazing. Scallops were great as well
