Raines Law Room at The William

My husband and I hosted our wedding here, and it couldn't have gone better. We wanted it to be a small, intimate, personal event where we hosted an escape room activity for the guests before transitioning into a more formal wedding ceremony; the vibe of the venue was perfect for accommodating both those segments. The hotel provided wonderful catering and helped ensure the transitions were as smooth as possible. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and welcoming, but we want to thank Alex and Jax specifically for being so helpful and responsive all throughout the planning process and during the big day itself. They helped make the event much less stressful than it could have been. Would recommend the Raines to anyone looking for a beautiful venue for an event of any kind!

We have visited Raines Law room several times and keep coming back. The atmosphere is a welcome change to the bustle of NYC and the crowded cocktail spots. Raines was crowded when we went on a Friday night, but you didn't feel it. It was still quiet and tables/couches spaced nicely. We each had 2-3 cocktails. Exceptional. And don't forget the food. The pastrami bites are crazy good. and so are the sliders. We love to take our guests visiting NYC to get a real speakeasy experience. They always have sticker shock from the cocktail prices, but get over it once they have one.

Fantastic drinks but make sure to tell the server your preferences so they can ensure you get a right drink. Otherwise you'll be surprised when some drinks are spirit forward and others are sweet. But they're quite good. Food wise get the fries of course. But the drinks are the stars.

Raines Law was my first NYC speakeasy and remains one of favorites for over a decade

As a worldwide traveler and speakeasy connoisseur this has to be my favorite and must visit when in NYC (only 4th time so far). Having the best cocktail I’ve ever tasted (bad love) has a lot to do with it but the ambiance is incredible and what I love more is that even though they are in high demand they are always extremely welcoming. This last time the hostess was the sweetest and put us at the bar (we usually have a reservation). We met Andreas which made our visit so special. Thanks as always!

very cool place. dark, intimate. flavorful drinks that are original and creative without being try-hard to too left field. hostess was very accommodating and our server, Austin was also fantastic. would go back.

A true New York cocktail bar. Raines Law Room on East 39th nails it. True, intimate, and focused on serious cocktails. The drinks are beautifully made and the service is smooth and knowledgeable. One of the best places in Midtown for a proper cocktail. A must try is the new Hibiki cocktail.

Alex and Jax know how to run a show. Best in class.

An intimate spot to unwind with a drink before or after dinner. It’s not too loud, making it perfect for having a good conversation with company. We discovered our favorite cocktail there—the “Whisky Business”—thanks to our waiter’s recommendation. It’s not on the menu, but if you come across this review, be sure to ask for it. It’s absolutely worth it.

Omg service is so trash here. The host just stands outside the entrance to the bar doesn’t even check how we are doing. The bartenders are slow and not attentive. Not coming back
