Good food!! Nice environment, but it could do a higher and nicer music to get the spirits up a bit during and after “happy hour”!

The previous review is spot on. First off, the hostess was indeed very rude. She stared at me as I walked in and took awhile to say anything - why should I speak first, I’m the customer, she should have greeted me. That encounter annoyed me and set a bad tone not to mention that even with a reservation, she put us at a tiny high table by the bar. Thankfully our server was nicer. The food was fine but overpriced for the small portions.

I didn’t even get to experience the magic of The Warren. I made a 7:15 pm reservation on a Saturday. I showed up on time and the hostess said it would be a 45 minute wait. Despite several parties waiting who had reservations, they went ahead and sad tables knowing they wouldn’t be finished on time to honor reservations they clearly took. Beyond that, they said they’d text me when my table was available. 8 hours later, still no text. Stay away. Far away.

10:08pm. Stated closing time 11, doors locked, and employees not permitting entry.

Please if you’re POC don’t come here, they only cater to white locals lol, bartender was so warm and welcoming to anybody but your brown people.

The Warren has its moments, but overall, it feels a bit too much of a scene for what you’re getting. The place is always packed, and the constant shuttling of customers in and out can make it feel more chaotic than enjoyable. It’s definitely a popular spot, but sometimes that means you’re squeezed into a table that’s way too close to the next one.

As for the food, it’s tasty, but overpriced for the portion sizes. The oysters were definitely the standout—fresh and briny, they were a highlight of the meal. The ricotta toast also impressed, creamy and savory, with just the right balance of flavors. But outside of those, the rest of the dishes didn’t quite live up to the price tag.

While The Warren has a fun atmosphere, there are plenty of other spots in the West Village offering a similar vibe and food at a better value. It’s a good place to stop by if you're in the area, but don’t expect anything that’ll leave a lasting impression.

2.5 stars: Ate there tonight (1/25/25), and I really thought I would love this place, but it just missed the mark at every turn.

I was mostly excited by their menu, which had so many incredible-sounding items. We tried 7-8 things and they were all just…okay. A few things were under seasoned, our pork belly and octopus were a bit overcooked, the flatbread was an insult to flatbread, and the “bread pudding” was a freaking muffin. Okay. Whatever. Not enough damage done where I would feel compelled to warn the public.

But the host’s attitude was enough to make me never want to go there again—before we ever tasted a bite of food. No greet or welcome when we arrived. No eye contact. Very rude when checking in. And after being led to our table, she barked over her shoulder to us as she walked away, “You have 90 minutes then I need the table back.” There’s NYC “rude” and then there’s this precious gem.

Oh, and just for an added touch of fun, we were lucky enough to get the table right across from the kitchen window where the expo stands all night to distribute the food coming from the pass/kitchen. Only problem is, there’s only enough room for one person to be in that area, so every time a table is being seated (or they are exiting) they need to squeeze between the expo and the people seated in the two seats at that prized table. So we got bumped. Like, a lot-lot.

Anywho, it’s cute inside and our server was nice, but that won’t bring me back.

We came here for a party of 4 without reservations during dinner and our server was very helpful in being able to seat us.

Unfortunately they were out of the duck ragu paperdelle, which caught our eyes as I'm sure it's a very popular dish. Nonetheless a few of us ordered the braised short rib which was delicious and a must try if you come here.

There were solid drink options and while the place is small it does a great job of making each seat and table feel very cozy and capable of having your own conversation without being too noisy.

Horribly slow service and bad food. Waited an hour for our entrees and they forgot appetizers. Didnt comp anything on the bill for the major inconvenience. Diet coke is $6 and is in the smallest glass. Complete waste of money

My go-to happy hour place! Reasonable prices and the drinks aren’t watered down.

I've rolled into the Warren on several occasions, most often to the bar, which has a CHEERS-like local feel for sure. The vibe is dark and sultry which I really like...post sunset, there's a candle-lit room atmosphere that makes everyone look great, so perfect for a date (see below). There's also a patio in front for warm weather get togethers. The bartenders are super friendly and even on the busiest of afternoons and evenings, manage to keep their patrons plied with beer & booze. The food is consistently good whether it's just apps or full-on foodie worthy.

A (male) friend was visiting over Valentine's Day and we booked a table for two. Interestingly and quite obviously (and surprisingly) we seemed to be the ONLY gay men in the joint that night. We're talking ground zero for the Tribe - Christopher and Hudson! Regardless, the evening was good fun with the exception of the dungeon dining downstairs. I would not choose that space again. It was hot and being someone who rarely thinks about an escape route, I couldn't stop thinking..."if there's a fire, we're f&&ked!" I'm sure there's another exit but if it's only the steep staircase I was challenged at 6' 3" to traverse, I'd be nervous.

So, choose the bar or a table/banquette on the main level. There's also, IIRC, only one bathroom for the joint, so the minute you think you need to tinkle, queue up for bladder release.

Brunch - YES, Dinner - YES, Drinks + Apps, YES YES. Location is easy breezy, right next to the Path Station at Christopher, a couple blocks from the 1 on 7th/Christopher. Try the Warren, you'll enjoy it, no doubt.

My husband picked this place last night when we decided to get something to eat before seeing the new musical comedy Kafkaesque. I love the cozy atmosphere. The service was very attentive. We shared the pork belly with homemade kimchi and the oysters. I got the mussels and he got the lamb chops. We also shared some assorted pickles that had a nice spicy kick and the moonshine bread pudding with gelato. The cocktails were fabulous! I highly recommend this place and I wish I lived closer because I would definitely be there often. The portions are just right.

Disappointing Experience Due to Time Constraints

I recently visited The Warren with my husband, his brothers and their wives, We were looking forward to dinner with family after a Liberty Fall foliage cruise.. Unfortunately, our experience was far from enjoyable. After we sat down and ordered our drinks, the manager approached us and informed us that we needed to vacate our table in 90 minutes.
While we probably would have finished in that time, it was the way it was presented that seemed rude. We've dined at many restaurants and have never encountered such a time constraint imposed on us while trying to enjoy a meal. We value our dining experiences and appreciate the opportunity to relax and savor our time together, which is why we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. The hostess and waitress were friendly,
however, I hope the management reassesses their approach to customer service and considers how such policies can impact the overall dining experience.

Relatively okay neighborhood bar & restaurant. It's small with a limited menu. Restaurant got noisy as it filled up. My first complaint is that the restaurant won't do individual checks leaving the customers to have to awkwardly figure out what everyone owes. Next big problem was they DON'T HAVE ICED TEA! Really? Just for that I won't be going back. The kitchen is small so the menu is limited. No soups or salads. I settled for a $28 hamburger because nothing else interested me. I could get hamburgers and fries a lot cheaper else where.
