This is my third time here and it's been great every time!I order the soup dumplings and beef ramen and it's delicious every time.Definitely recommend it, especially since it's just steps away from Washington Square Park.
Almost a year ago, I visited this restaurant with my husband. We were looking for a place to eat before a show, and we were starving. Just when we were about to give up, we found Tipsy Shanghai.
I’m writing this review almost a year later, but we still have great memories of that night! We had a wonderful meal and even received a complimentary dish. It was an excellent evening!

I love their noodles. I tired a few different noodle soups and they were all very tasty. Soup dumplings were also very delicious.

Been here twice and will definitely come back. One of the better spots for the crab soup dumplings, food is fresh. The bean sprouts are amazing. Can't wait to try the mango dessert

Very authentic Chinese food. The food was excellent and the service was great. When eating inside, you will almost forget that you are sitting on 29 Street. They have a pumpkin cake dessert that tastes amazing!

Popped in for a quick late lunch and was VERY DISAPPOINTED.
The drunken chicken was totally tasteless and dry. I had two bites and just left it there.
Soup dumplings was ok but 2 broken in the steamer. Plus there’s no ginger in the vinegar sauce.
The broth of Shanghai Wonton soup was watery. The wontons were good though.

The environment inside is very good! But it is a small store with only two staff members. If it gets busy, it will be overwhelmed...
But I think their noodles are not what I like. But I highly recommend their vegetarian dumplings! Really delicious! ! Xiaolongbao is also delicious? I ordered rice balls for takeout

We walked in for a quick Sunday dinner. We were seated immediately, no fuss ordering, food comes pretty quick.
The best dish is the sweet and sour rib, right amount of sweetness, I will come back again just for this.
The pan fried dumplings is a little disappointing, the bottom is not crispy enough.
And this dish - boiled green in a bowl, it is my first time seeing this dish, it is literally boiled bok choy in a bowl of soup, nothing else. I have to say it is actually not that bad, but you can probably make this at home in 5 mins, but they charge $12.95 for it ?
Overall, not a bad place if you want to have a quick bite of some okay Shanghainese food.

Before you decide to go, understand one thing. Chinese spots are divided into 2. Your mid day/late night oily greasy extremely sweet but sometimes satisfying food. And then your sit down close to authentic Chinese cuisine. This place is in the second category
It’s a bit hidden but if you’re looking for it, you’ll find it. Very small and cozy place. Nice and intimate for a quick date spot
As far as the food goes, the general Tsos was good. I liked that it wasn’t overly sweet. However, I feel like they could add a bit more savory sweetness to it because it was a tad bit underwhelming.
The beef fried rice was very average. I understand that they might keep the flavor neutral if you want to pair it with some other meat but the beef had virtually no flavor and the rice was not adequately seasoned. Not entirely bland but for the price, you’d be expecting more.
In total, what you’re seeing was about $30 and for that price, I expect more. Not to compare to the quick in and out Chinese spots but I’ve had great Chinese food from those spots for a way cheaper price.
Nothing here was bad. But it was not exceptional

As someone born and raised in Shanghai, I found the food here nothing close to what we have in Shanghai (the chef that was on duty that day was not even Chinese). And it's definitely overpriced. Very disappointed....Che Li and Nan Xiang Xiao Long are way better! I don't understand why there are so many good reviews here.

If you’re looking for authentic Shanghainese food, look elsewhere. We ordered the braised lion head meatball and it was so disappointing. The meatball was very dry. It reminded me of the frozen Italian meatball you heat up in the oven, but those are way more tender.
We also ordered yellow croaker in noodle soup. The croaker was nowhere to be found, and the dish was overpowered by pickled vegetables and all we could taste was salt.
Maybe this place tastes Shanghainese when you’re tipsy and drunk?
