Review:
The bagel was really tasty! I had a bagel with cream cheese and lox - highly recommended for everyone. However, ordering can be a bit stressful as there is always a large crowd.

Loved this place. The bagels are amazing and the options for spreads and sandwiches are endless.
Especially loved their jalapeño bagel with jalapenos cream cheese. But they’ll also make a veggie egg sandwich with veggie sausage which was great. My sister loved the chicken salad.
In the morning there is a lot going on there but even then it doesn’t take too long till you have your order.

This is one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood!! Luz and the staff are super friendly and helpful so I’m here almost every morning. The bagels and BEC are amazing(bacon is always perfectly crispy! and don’t sleep on the scallion & bacon cream cheese.)

The flavored lemonades are also fire!! But if you want a coffee, the caramel macchiato is literally better than Starbucks. It does get really busy sometimes during peak hours, but they get through the line pretty fast. Just make sure you follow the signs and stand in the right line!

Although the food is good, the service is so-so. The cashier displays a somewhat nonchalant next customer attitude. The food wasn’t worth getting in the long line for.

When in New York, you’ve gotta get a bagel, and I am so glad I got to enjoy some Tompkins Square Bagels.

Bagel and spread options are numerous and it really helps to know your order beforehand to keep the line moving, as this is a fast paced bagel shop.

The dill and cucumber cream cheese spread is something special. That light and perfect flavor combination was on my mind the entire trip, which meant I had to go back for more. Seriously, this is the only place I ate at twice during our trip, because it’s that good. Also, they load you up with schmear, so you really get to enjoy the spread.

Their breakfast sandwiches are amazing and made to order, so expect a little wait for a good fresh sandwich. It’s worth it.

The bagels themselves are fresh and delicious, with a crunchy exterior and soft interior. I had sourdough and sesame seed, and both were delicious.

Bagel places are a plenty in NYC, and if you are near union square, I would definitely recommend this spot.

I had it all planned out. Get up early, vote, and get a bagel from Tompkins Sq on 17th St before the crowd arrived. I'd heard it was one of the best in NYC -thick and doughy, just like I love 'em. I looked forward to bringing it home and tasting that classic match of slightly melting cream cheese on a warm, lightly toasted bagel with a cup of coffee right before I started my work. I said - plain bagel, plain cream cheese, LIGHTLY TOASTED. When I got home, it was not lightly toasted but burnt. Charred around the edges. A dark black circular shadow running around the ring on top. Inedible, basically. Whatever doughy-ness, early morning first-batch freshness had been obliterated. Yes, I ate most of it. I was hungry, and it was there. No, I didn't go back and make a fuss because I had work to do and didn't have the time to trek back. It had no flavor, left behind a charred taste, and a piece is stuck in my throat. The bagel had looked so appetizing in the basket. I'm so disappointed I can't even get mad. Back to Murray's Bagels around the corner, also considered the best in NY (check em out - on 6th Ave off of 13th St, near the southeast corner of 6th. I've never had a bad bagel there yet.)

Vegetarian options: it's a bagel joint. Bagels are vegetarian. Not sure if they have gluten-free.

As a self-proclaimed bagel connoisseur, I ranked Tompkin Square Bagels as one of my top five bagel spot in NYC. It is also known to be Timothée Chalamet’s favorite bagel.

You will be overwhelmed by their extensive menu of bagels, cream cheese, deli meats, sandwiches and pastries once you step in. But I’ve got you covered—here are my top 3 picks if you’re a first timer.

*Mixed Berry CC on Blueberry Bagel
A sweet cream cheese and bagel combo. I am typically a savory bagel/pastry person, but this mixed berry cc on blueberry bagel is an exception. The cream cheese is blended with fresh and actual berries and tastes like yogurt, while the bagel is like a not-too-sweet version of blueberry loaf cake. It is the definition of a good and sweet NY bagel imo.

*The Weezer on Onion Bagel
The Weezer is my go-to order, which is made of crisped bacon, spicy chorizo, egg, cheddar, and cream cheese of your choice. I picked scallion cream cheese as the aroma of scallion matches the ingredients. Onion bagel is coated with toasted minced onion on the crust, giving the sandwich an extra layer of fragrance. The sandwich is HUGE so it could be a filling meal.

*Pumpkin Spiced CC on Halloween Bagel
Yayyy I finally got my hands on their Halloween specials. It was sold out last year. It tasted like plain bagel but the orange color with black swirls was so cute!!

I was very impressed! It was busy inside but that is expected with most places in New York from my experience. They moved the line quickly and were taking orders as you waited in line. There were so many options to choose from! My husband got The Weezer with plain cream cheese and I got a French toast bagel with the apple cinnamon cream cheese, and wow!! The bagels were so fresh and perfectly chewy and soft. The cream cheese is also a stand out here! I’m so sad we went on our last day in New York, because I would have been here every morning!

This place is genuinely worth the hype. Easily the best bagel I’ve ever had in my entire life. I will be eating here again the next time I’m in NYC.

This Bagel Shop stands Out, because they do care about Vegans and Vegetarians!

There is JustEgg and Beyond/Impossible Meat! I just had the Bagel and it was an amazing experience!

Size and Price is fair - and the Vibe is more relaxed than in Liberty Bagel for example.
