I’m a frequent diner at Tsurutontan’s Midtown location, and it never disappoints. The first thing anyone notices are the massive bowls — they always leave an impression and make the meal feel special. I also appreciate how easy it usually is to get a Resy on weeknights, which makes it a reliable go-to spot.

The space is clean, modern, and roomy (a rarity in Midtown), and the food is consistently flavorful. For first-timers, I’d recommend the Tsurutontan Deluxe, but my personal favorites are the Wagyu Truffle Udon and the Sukiyaki Deluxe — both are deeply satisfying and rich in flavor. The sushi is good as well and pairing it with a small bowl udon brings the best of both worlds.

Service isn’t overly attentive, but I actually find that works well if you’re there to have a conversation without interruptions. Overall, it’s a solid spot for comfort food in a stylish setting, whether you’re introducing friends to udon or just craving a familiar favorite.

Our server was nick and everything was amazing! Very kind and attentive without being too much very genuine. We both got the katsu curry ramen and it was to die for. Very filling and it was happy hour so I got a glass of rosé that was wonderful. They had happy hour for appetizers too which was great. As we are very picky about ramen I would seriously say this place is top 3 best ramen we’ve ever had.

I had such a great experience here! Literally everything I ordered was delicious — from the tuna crispy rice and refreshing cucumbers to the truffle fries, pork dumplings, and the star of the show: the wagyu truffle udon. Every bite was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly.

The drinks were just as impressive and paired really well with the food. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing.

Overall, this place is a must-visit if you love udon or just want an amazing meal. I’ll definitely be coming back!

A super good experience. We repeated it three times during our 10-day trip. Plus, they have happy hour and delicious cocktails like the Tokyo Mule.

I’ve been to this place like four times now, and every time I’ve ordered something else apart from their beef udon I’ve been disappointed, which to me is unacceptable because of how expensive everything is.

Their mentaiko udon tastes overwhelmingly of mayonnaise.

Their okonomiyaki udon is just completely drowned in okonomiyaki sauce and tastes sickeningly sweet.

Anyway… just stick to the beef udon and you’ll be okay. The portions are also large enough that one order can feed 1.5-2 people.

Similar to the location in Tokyo I have been to, this restaurant in NYC has famous big bowls of udon of different flavors. Everything we ordered had a good taste (including my phone that slipped into the bowl of noodles). Sizzling shrimp udon could have some more flavor to it. Staff is polite and respectful. I would definitely come back.

I was craving Japanese curry and came across this spot on Seamless, so I ordered the Katsu Curry Don for pickup. The udon noodles were spot on—springy and bouncy with the perfect texture. The curry itself, though, was lighter than I’d hoped, a bit watery and lacking boldness. The katsu portion was also pretty small, which was disappointing. Overall, it was decent, and I’d be open to trying other dishes on the menu next time.

Came once and food was ok. Went again and we left without ordering because the Asian servers were extremely rude.

We were expecting an enjoyable dinner with a small party of 3. However, when our companion arrived at the restaurant, he was stopped from entering twice by separate staffs, thinking that he was an Uber delivery man. So the mood was ruined before we even ordered.

Nearly perfect udon and Japanese dishes.
However, the sukiyaki beef is a bit tough.
Probably should try wagyu next time.

..sushi was as good as it gets, made by real sushi chefs from Japan. Seared Salmon Blue Crab Roll, Eel Cucumber Roll, and the Tsuruton Roll were just melt in your mouth quality and perfect. Desert options were crazy good too. Try the Avocado Wasabi Ice Cream, sounds bizarre..but trust me, it’ll drop you. Miso Caramel Ice Cream…also perfect. Lots of food, very reasonably priced. Waitress was the sweetest lady ever too.
