I recently ate here with 3 friends for dinner after work on a Thursday around 6pm, the 2nd week of December.
We made a reservation beforehand which made it a bit more convenient, being that there it was around the start of the holiday party season in NYC.
It had a nice but small entrance with an interesting aesthetic, it was a bit casual, but it felt a bit more refined as you progressed further into the space. There was a small seating area near the window and a banquet seating area along the wall opposite a massive L shaped counter. There was a collection of records housed along a large shelving system which ran towards the bar area. Some additional seating could be found across from the bar near the stairs that led to the restrooms and wine cellar. It wasn’t too well lit to take in the various details of the decor during my visit, but it was warm and intimate in feel, classic steakhouse vibes. The bar is in the middle of the somewhat narrow restaurant, which made it a bit annoying when trying to get to the larger rear dining area when the crowd gathered around the bar. The layout and table setup in the rear dining area was a bit awkward due to the configuration they had that evening, it was a bit tight to maneuver around the tables but once seated it was ok.
The hostess was wonderful and attentive. We enjoyed selecting the next record to be played from their music selection using the iPad they had floating around.

Food ordered:

(This fed 3 adult males over 200+ lbs each)
We started with the Short Rib Potstickers (5/5).
We were recommended to get the Dry aged Porterhouse with a side of marrow herb butter (3.9/5) to share family style and order a few sides to accompany the steak as our entree. We ordered the Vinyl bone marrow corn (3/5), Loaded Potato Pavé (4.8/5), Roasted Parmesan Green Beans (5/5).

One of my friends is a fiend for Key Lime pie and thoroughly enjoyed Vinyl’s take on it in their Key Lime Cheesecake (4/5).

Overall the meal was good, not the best steak in NYC but it definitely has a nice aesthetic charm and the service was on point.
I would definitely recommend you check them out, I know I wouldn’t mind popping back in again.

Kid-friendliness: No, though I’m sure they COULD accommodate.

Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, but it’s a bit tight to maneuver around.

Amazing atmosphere and food. Got the porterhouse for 2 and my gf and I had an amazing dinner. Highly recommend the corn with bone marrow and the bone marrow butter as the steak sauce. Owner and staff stopped by our table and made sure we had a great dining experience. Having gone to Michelin Star and other steak houses Vinyl is right there if not cozier and better and more fun. Going to be going back for the atmosphere and steak and sauce and experience! Thank you Kevin!

Dining at Vinyl is more than just a meal—it's an experience that blends elevated American cuisine with a love for music. From the moment you walk in, the warm ambiance is complemented by the classic albums playing in the background. What makes Vinyl truly special is its interactive approach: guests are invited to choose the music from their impressive vinyl collection, adding a personal touch to the evening.

The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish, from perfectly cooked steaks to the side offerings, was executed with care and sophistication (Our fave were the green beans and truffle Mac and cheese). It’s American food, but on a whole new level. Pair that with attentive service and an atmosphere that feels quintessentially New York, and you have a dining experience that’s nothing short of memorable.

I finally understand the hype. Vinyl isn’t just a steakhouse; it’s a celebration of great food, music, and the vibrant culture of NYC. Whether you’re a foodie, a music lover, or simply looking for a unique spot, Vinyl hits all the right notes.

Very noisy place. They forcefully make you pay a tip of over 22% (maybe even 25%?) directly into the bill, or at least they did it with us. I hope it's their general rule and that I didn't read it in the menu due to my distraction. The meat was good although not exceptional; good cooking.

Do not order the chicken Parmesan, it was not good at all, My wife’s filet was very good. I had the cowboy ribeye $150….it was properly prepared but completely lacked flavor and quite tough and a lot pre fat and gristle than meat. The waitress raved about the potstickers being something you could eat every day and never tire of it. It was just bland and the sauce was not complimentary. Dessert was there homemade chocolate mint cake. It was just ok nothing phenomenal about. Total bill for three people $444. Yes $443. I’m being very generous with the 3 star rating.

Our visit to Vinyl Steakhouse in New York was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was both sophisticated and inviting, the food was nothing short of spectacular.

Every steak was cooked to absolute perfection, we ordered the Dry Aged Porterhouse and the cajun Ribeye and both were extremely delicious.

What truly set this experience apart was the exceptional service of Sebastian and Kiera, whose warm hospitality and attention to detail made our experience truly enjoyable. They went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was flawless.

If you are in NY, this spot is an absolute must. We can’t wait to return 🙏

Expirence at this steak house was 5 stars , we loved the warmed atmosphere and the music gave it a plus. I have to say the Cajun ribeye was just amazing, the spice on this steak was just on point and cooked to perfection. Our waitress ELIZABETH was very knowledgeable of the menu and made suggestions that excel our experience. The manager (Sebastian) was very welcoming and was able to accommodate us even when we didn’t have a reservation for tonight and the restaurant was booked. Thanks again for a top notch experience.

My fiancée and I came across this 10/10 restaurant on our visit to New York.
It was by far the best food we had in our 5 day stay in the city.
The owner was so welcoming and the staff were excellent, atmosphere was perfect, and food was all perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.
So many highlights but I would definitely recommend trying the Mac N cheese as a side, which went perfectly well, alongside the steaks we both had.
Thank you all for being so friendly and warm.
All the best with your beautiful restaurant.

Food was amazing. Atmosphere was very cool. My only complaint was it was loud and hard to hold a conversation. Other than that I would recommend!
