Extraordinarily mediocre. I had to comment on the schnitzel being bad. Fat, thick cuts, cold to the table. Too many people saying it's better than what you can get in Germany/Austria are on something. I went 3 or 4 years ago and had absolutely no desire to return, to eat cold schnitzel on the smelly streets of NYC.

Wallsé Next Door is clearly meant to be the casual bistro incarnation of its upscale namesake, but instead it feels like a soulless made-for-airports adaptation along the lines of a Wolfgang Puck Express. Oysters-on-the-half-shell arrived so mutilated they might have been opened with a screwdriver. Potato salad included potatoes fully cooked, potatoes al dente, and potatoes still raw enough to crunch. Perhaps most telling was that our server brought the (dry and bland) chicken schnitzel sandwich with a warning that I might need to ask her for mustard—thus evidencing that the sandwich is on the menu despite the staff being fully aware that it’s a lame dish.(The beet salad was easily the best dish we tried. It’s too monotonous to make it a main dish, but it splits three ways very nicely.)

Lovely place next to Wallsé where you can enjoy Austrian food. The cocktails were on point and they had a nice Austrian wine selection. The pork schnitzel was a good size, not too big or too small. Great service! Will return for more.

High end Austrian dining in the heart of the West Village. All dishes nicely executed. Excellent tartare. Schnitzel is a can’t miss. Try the desserts. Dining room so comfy, you’ll feel right at home.

Loved: first white on menu, oysters, pretzel, cod. Brady had the lobster. Phenomenal food and service. We also had the (sp?) spatzel which had an alfredo like sauce.

Really cute, cozy bar. The drinks were great. Good selection was huge, but what I had I enjoyed. Nice spot for after work drinks!

Was able to reserve a time slot for a ~9pm take out deal with the app tgtg, for 3 slices of cake, the apple strudel, linzer raspberry cake/pie and sacher torte. They are all made in-house and made fresh that day. The 3 slices were all delicious, so much so I came back again the next night to get the slices for a friend's birthday. The cake slices were well presented by the friendly staff rivaling that of other fine restaurants. The desserts were not overly sweet or excessive in chocolate in the case of the sacher torte, and had the characteristic drier, delicate texture of Austrian cuisine with fresh ingredients from a fine dining establishment. They brightened up the challenging work day I was having. The space of Wallse Next Door (on Washington St around the corner from Wallse), was a quiet spot in the evening or day, and a fine place to meet friends.

From kitchen to sommelier to wait staff, one of the finest dining experiences you will find in the West Village imo
