Washington Square Diner

Great little diner here! We enjoyed two meals here in three days. The only negative could be that there is SO MUCH food in a serving! Everything is served on a platter. Excellent value here!

If you are looking for a typically American experience, Washington Square Diner is the place to be. Located a stone’s throw from Washington Square Park, it’s a warm and welcoming place, with classic diner style: steel counter, leather seating and quick and friendly Service. The menu is huge, from classic pancakes and breakfast omelets to succulent burgers and hearty sandwiches. I tried the pancakes with maple syrup: soft and tasty, just as you expect. Even coffee is continuously filled, as in the best American tradition. Prices are fair considering the central location, and Service is fast and smiling. Perfect for a hearty breakfast or casual lunch between walks. Tip: Come in the morning to enjoy the typical New York atmosphere without much confusion.

Friendly atmosphere in this typical American dinner, the staff was very welcoming, we feasted with the bison burger in deluxe version.

Stop in for a milkshake and a break from walking. Staff were so friendly and fast. I ended up grabbing a piece of cheesecake Togo and I'm so glad I did because it was some of the best I've ever had. Do the right thing and grab a slice.

This place took me back in time, and I could feel the old NY energy inside me. It's one of the coolest breakfast spots around. I'll suggest that everyone frequent these places and keep them alive. Big up for the friendly staff!!

Great service! Cute classic place with yummy food. Minus one star because the hamburger was like $12 on the menu and it cost $14.95. No qualms otherwise.

Classic diner in exceptional location. I had the Friday lunch special, a grilled chicken panini on focaccia bread, and it was very good. Surprisingly not crowded for a Friday afternoon, quick and efficient service, didn't feel rushed to leave the table after eating.

This is the spot!!! This is the spot myself, Choirand church peeps hang out at after service.
Parking is not always easy, especially in the West Village, and when worship is in service but it can be found sometimes near the restaurant.
The waiters are all wonderful and know our little group well. The restaurant is kid friendly, but usually, the kids seen here are the NYU students. The atmosphere is very comfortable, booths filled with chatting and laughter.
There is so much to choose from the menu, and yes, there are vegan/vegetarian meals to choose from as well.
The last time I ate there(2 wks ago) I had the chili with cheese over rice. The chili was well seasoned and tasty over the rice, perfect.
Another spot with good food that's reasonable.

Cappuccino was awful. The cakes, Lemon, was just sweet. The waiters are quite impolite for NYC standards
