Overall food was really good, vibes were nice on a Friday night playing Afro beats
this is going to be a top 5 meal in 2025 i can already tell. from start to finish it was great. we sat at the chefs counter which i always love and this one is a little different because they have glass separating you from the kitchen (which makes it a little less hot than usual). i was expecting a lot since it’s jean george junior and food did not disappoint. we started with a trio of skewers (lamb, chicken, and scallop) the chicken was my favorite. the juiciest chicken i’ve ever had and the peanut sauce was unreal. the scallop satay was also great, loved the sauce but i couldn’t pinpoint the flavors. the lamb was just ok compared to the other two, a little dry/tough. tasted more like beef than lamb to me but loved the peppers with it. we also tried the octopus which dare i say is the best i’ve ever had (it’s between opto and here). the fennel under was amazing and so were the sauces. for entrees we got the lobster noodles and the duck. i’m a duck lover and i just wasn’t impressed with this one. originally we sent it back for being over cooked and they redid it for us. the second time it was cooked properly but i still felt it lacked flavor. the noodles on the other hand were insane. i don’t like pepper but the combination of the pepper and butter was amazing. we also tried the corn fritter which was heavy but amazing. it wasn’t too greasy and had a sweet flavor because of the corn. we got the pandan custard for dessert which isn’t what i originally wanted but it ended up being the perfect ending to a heavy meal. it was light and not too sweet but still sweet enough. the passion fruit gave it a nice tang and complimented the custard nicely. my favorite things were the chicken satay, octopus, lobster noodles and the pandan custard. i cannot wait to go back! service was a little wonky just because we couldn’t track her down for a while when we wanted something but she was super sweet.
Get $25 off your bill using the link on my profile! I can see why some reviews say it’s a little overpriced, but with a bit of a discount, it’s 100% worth it.
The interior is very eye-pleasing and overall creates a serene atmosphere. It was hard to choose out of so many different options, but the waiter gave us great suggestions and every dish tasted amazing. I still think about this place although it’s been a while since I went. This would be one of the restaurants I’d bring friends visiting NYC to.
Really really nice atmosphere but food was definitely not worth the price. Felt like whitewashed Indonesian food with smaller portions to make it seem more expensive. High margin vs the cost of the ingredients. Eggplant and branzino were good, chicken satay was undergrilled.
favorite nyc restaurant
this restaurant being on the michelin guide, i had higher expectations for this restaurant ! starting off w vibes, we went during lunch and you could tell that the restaurant is definitely more of a night/dinner restaurant, however i do believe that it is harder to get seating if you go at night ! the place was decorated really nicely as well ! the staff were nice and attentive. the food was good and i liked that it was family style (aka shareable) so the cost wasn’t as much split amongst people! however the lobster noodles are a small bowl for $40! undoubtedly the most popular yet extremely expensive item, it was good but the star for my family was the ribs. it was a good size and had great flavor! would recommend if you want a fancy/expensive night out!
We ate at the pop up restaurant last summer in the Hamptons. And it was one of the best meals I had in 2024.
The restaurant is beautiful, service was exceptional and food even more delicious. I would highly recommend this establishment for a date night or for an evening with friends/family.
The rendang escargots and the scallop satay were excellent. The real highlight for me though was the pandan custard dessert. Just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, a sleek spot for some fusion French-Indonesian food.
Incredibly underwhelming food, inattentive service, felt like they were hurrying us out of the restaurant even though the food took long. It’s neither good Indonesian nor good French food, just a blah, bland mixture of cultural buzz words to cater to an unearned audience: the nasi goreng, an $18 side, tasted like leftovers. Worst of all, it is grossly overpriced for the quality of the food, all of which you can make at home for a quarter of the price; this is the South East Asian equivalent of Bungalow, where uninitiated diners can find mild amusement while those who are familiar can feel legitimately ripped off. We left unhappy and hungry. Get the Escargot and lobster noodle for decent frozen meals.
Amazing food! And the scenery was very cool! Cocktails were the only thing that left us disappointed

Wayan’s lunch menu is a perfect blend of bold Indonesian flavors and refined touches. The escargot were delicate and flavorful, while the lobster noodles out of this world. The corn fritters were addictive. Great ambiance and attentive service, definitely worth a visit.
The food was lovely but what makes it taste even better is the solid service. My bartender Mark was friendly, knowledgeable, and talented at anticipating our every need. If you need to get one thing, get the rendang escargot (recommended by Mark) hands down. Buttery, salty, unctuous, balanced, perfect. This place is a neighborhood gem for sure. I look forward to returning.
Stopped into Wayan solo for a little treat, and while I didn’t try much, what I did have absolutely slapped. The pickleback? Maybe the best iteration I’ve had—made with their house-brined spicy chili pickle! And the escargot? Buttery, bright with lime juice, and just ridiculously good.
I’ll definitely be back with a group—this place deserves a full feast.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York City. We came here for brunch because I was craving their French toast. Kid you not, I have dreams about their Crispy Pandan French toast. It's perfectly sweet with the kaya jam and roasted pineapple on top. The vegetable spring rolls are awesome. I like the green sauce it came with. I also love their chickpea skewers. How do they get the chickpea mash to stick on the skewer???? The Avocado Gado Toast is really delicious and pretty. Their sides are incredible. I always order the corn fritter because corn. Don't forget dessert. The Pandan custard is my favorite with the passion fruit seeds. My friend thought the passion fruit overpowered the custard, but I don't agree. Service here is also excellent.
