$26 for a lightly roasted cauliflower, half a cup of sauce, and a few herbs is crazy!!! If you're vegetarian, go somewhere else.Vegetarian options: Few. Over priced.

We had an amazing time at Wayan, the food and drinks were great, the service was exceptional. Loved the little outdoor pavilion, the vibes were immaculate. The food was very, very good, my only (mild) criticism would be that the dishes mostly feel like somewhat safe crowd pleasers, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing, everything we had was absolutely delicious. If you're looking for super out there foods you may be disappointed, but everything they do they do extremely well. The primary reason I'd come running back was Phoebe being our waitress, she was absolutely phenomenal, had great advice on food and wine pairings, seemed very educated and genuine in her recommendations, steered us towards the perfect portions and dessert recs, and gave us personalized attention without being overbearing. Overall 9/10

When I say this is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in nyc, I mean it. I am a restaurant connoisseur and all I do is try new restaurants in Manhattan and this is one of the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend the lobster noodles. It was incredible. Everything I had. The flavors melted into my mouth. Service was incredible. Food was some of the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. Highly Highly recommend.

We've been meaning to dine here in a while and was craving Indonesian food so we were excited. Got in today and was seated quite fast on a bar seat with no reservations for 2. We ordered pork satay, shrimp satay, lobster noodles, nasi goreng, corn fritters, and some mocktails that costed us about $140.Pork and shrimp satay: The servings were tiny. The shrimp is a shrimp patty mixed with other fish and ingredients. You can barely taste the shrimp.Lobster noodles: This dish is a glorified San Francisco Garlic Noodles with a cream sauce and 2 tablespoons of black and white pepper. You can barely taste anything except the peppers. There's a good amount of lobster but to douse a delicate tasting protein with tons of pepper, its completely overpowered and practically not there.Nasi goreng: This didn't taste like nasi goreng at all. It just tasted like a salted fried rice not in a good way. It's super flat and absolutely unpleasant. Egg didn't help.Corn fritters: Meh, I've had better. More batter than corn.Overall, the service was good. The food is mediocre. Disappointing. Left without even checking the dessert menu. Not coming back.

A Taste of Indonesia with a French TwistMy recent visit to Wayan for a team dinner was an exploration of culinary delights and a few unexpected letdowns. The Indonesian-French fusion menu offered an array of dishes that were mostly exceptional, creating a dining experience filled with “wow” moments. The corn fritters were a standout, offering a crispy, flavorful start to our feast. The lobster noodles were another highlight, perfectly cooked with a savory depth that made each bite memorable. And the egg rolls? They were a masterclass in texture and taste, encapsulating the essence of Indonesian flavors beautifully. However, not everything hit the mark. Despite my anticipation, the seabass was disappointing. Echoing my boss's previous advice, I found it inedible – a surprising outcome for a dish that's typically foolproof. This misstep was a stark contrast to the otherwise impressive offerings. The ambiance at Wayan adds to its allure, with an interior that evokes the sexy, laid-back charm of a Bali beach club. Although we were seated outside, which was enjoyable and matched the fun of our team gathering, the seating was less than ideal. The square block stools were uncomfortable, detracting from the overall dining experience.Despite these inconsistencies, Wayan remains a vibrant spot in the culinary landscape, marrying Indonesian and French cuisines in a mostly exquisite manner. The atmosphere, particularly inside, promises a chic and inviting setting that I’m eager to experience more fully. With the hope that the seabass was a one-off misfire, I look forward to returning and delving deeper into Wayan’s unique and tantalizing menu. ???

Excellent service. Worse food than a corporate reception, because it’s not free but also has toothpicks. Asked for shrimp paste (sambal I think?) four times, then was told it was “already added” in powdered form to the Nasi Goreng. Mild spices, tame taste. Don’t stay for the dessert. We used to make this stuff in college (ramen with black pepper and cream ).

For a higher end Indonesian meal, this is the spot. Perfect for special occasions or small gatherings/date night. The vibes were great, felt intimate with the decor on point. The food was overall great with tons of flavors. The crab fried rice and duck were out really top tier. Eggplant was alittle disappointing, but squid and other side made up for it. The lime pie dessert was also very tart and refreshing way to end the meal. Must get!Staff was friendly and bathroom was clean. Drinks are strong here ?.

Solid place for a modern Javanese cuisine experience. I recommend sitting in the back side as it’s more open/relaxed than the busy/cozy front. The ambiance has interesting elements of Indonesia and food provides a creative French twist. Dishes are expensive but everything is freshly made to order and served quick. We tried a bunch of things like the sashimi, satays, tartare, octopus, Brussel sprouts but the most delicious item was Corn fritters. It’s irresistibly good.Drinks & desserts too have a unique Indonesian spin to classics - definitely worth trying a few like their Dharmawangsa. Service wins with waiters patiently explaining the concept & menu items.Really glad I went out of my comfort zone to try Wayan!

Honest opinion from an Asian foodie.I ordered: lobster noodle, steamed sea bass, duck breastTo my disappointment, the lobster noodle was not up to par. A lot of reviews recommend it, i give it a 3 stars. Tastes good but it reminds me of ramen noodles, really really good ramen noodles.Food was good, the delivery was on point, the tastes were rich, but to me it feels like homemade Indonesian food.Dont get me wrong, I absolutely love homemade. But this is homemade with a 5 star pricing disguise.I feel like the decor and ambience is what people came to pay for.It was a great experience but i would not see myself coming back just for the food.Thank you Wayan for your hospitality
