The White Horse Tavern is a great spot in the West Village to visit and have a few pints. As a fan of writer Dylan Thomas, who hung out here, I had to stop in. Wonderful atmosphere, and the Guinness was delicious!
Nice spot with street dining, you can admire all the people passing by.
The smashed burger was amazing, really juicy and with lots of flavor from the pickles and onions, the fries were really good also.
The crispy calamari was also really really good, the crust was crispy and the calamari really tender. Good selection of German draft beers.
The service wasn’t that good, there was only one server for all the outside tables.

Food was good. The beet salad is a must have. I enjoyed the blue cheese burger but my husband not so much. Hence the 4 star for food. The calamari is ok but served with a tomato sauce, which wasn't great. Certainly have had much better calamari. Service was friendly and the vibe of the bar is great. Feels like it's been there a long time. Would recommend for a quick bite if you're in the area.
